Wikipedia:WikiProject Islam:The Muslim Guild/New version of this guild (suggestions)
Appearance
I have some suggestions and this due to the increasing number of participants. I believe that in order to move on we need to revise some of the stuff about this guild.
- Title - The title doesn't represent the facts. It says The Muslim Guild while we have almost 50% of participants who are not Muslims. I suggest whether to merge it with Wikipedia:WikiProject Islam or a title like Wikipedia:Islam's Guild (though I see no reason why having 2 separate houses!).
- Project page - Subsequently to the above, the project page should refrain from categorizing participants' beliefs. The question is does the catecorization serve for a purpose? If yes, please explain and comment. Cheers -- Szvest 09:26, 1 January 2006 (UTC) Wiki me up™
I like things the way they are. People can contribute under The Muslim Guild or under the main Islam Wikiproject.--JuanMuslim 1m 05:01, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have no problem with that particular thing about merging. But, Juan, literally, Muslim guild doens't mean th esame as Islam guild. Szvest 02:37, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- That is true but it would be strange to have a subguild called The Islam Guild in addition to the WikiProject Islam. Here is the what we have today....

So this is sorta like what you want...

- I haven't joined either this guild, or SIEEG (sp?) because I don't feel in harmony with the goals of either group. This guild seems to be a club for Muslims; the other guild is a club for people who don't like Muslims. I'd join a Project: Islam-related articles, or some such thing, if the guiding spirit were NPOV and academic reliability. That often seems to mean offending people in both the existing guilds ... - It is not a question of having weird subguilds. I am discussing about another weird thing to have an exclusive title. But well, it is also weird that when looking at the hierarchy I understand that we got too many for everyone! A see it as a festival of guilds. We cannot improve articles if everybody is singing apart. To improve articles any project should include all voices, otherwise we are not solving anything and just messing up. Can you please tell me guys the difference between every guild, including the parent? Cheers -- Szvest 03:11, 3 January 2006 (UTC) Wiki me up™
- If you're intent on deleting The Muslim Guild, why don't you just set it for VfD? Anyone who has assisted this guild knows the difference. --JuanMuslim 1m 05:20, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- I am not a partisan of presenting articles or projects to the Vfd's. I am stressing the simple thing about the title of this guild.
- Let's read the Mission statement. The mission and principles of the Muslim WikiProject are (excerpts):
- - To encourage non-Muslims and Muslims to work productively.
- - To encourage collaboration among knowledgeable editors about Islam.
- - To encourage all Wikipedians to work as a team rather than as competitors.
- Let's see the membership section:
- Although the Muslim Guild carries the word "Muslim" in its name, we encourage members of any faith to participate as long as they are knowledgeable about Islam. (There no stated reason why it is called "Muslim" and not "Islam".)
- And let's see the definition of Muslim.
- It just doesn't make sense to me. What I am calling for, Juan, is simply renaming the guild to represent and reflect its mission and principles. That's all what I call for. I am also encouraging the deletion of the categorization in the main project page (Muslim, Non-Muslim, Ain't tell!). Cheers -- Szvest 05:34, 3 January 2006 (UTC) Wiki me up™

- And, your suggestions would mean the end of The Muslim Guild. --JuanMuslim 1m 17:30, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- No Juan, read this once more pls:

- If the Muslim Guild has a different name, then there would be no Muslim Guild. That would be the deletion of the guild. That is what you are after. I don't mind if new subguilds are created. --JuanMuslim 1m 14:01, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- There's a misunderstanding between what i suggested and what you understood Juan. I am not after anything except making the title of this project more accurate and representative. I can't be more explicit. Cheers -- Szvest 14:40, 7 January 2006 (UTC) Wiki me up™
