Wikipedia:WikiProject Freemasonry/Article assessment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The {{WikiProject Freemasonry}} template has |class= and |importance= parameters that provide an article assessment rating.

Think of "class" as representing the article's quality and completeness, and "importance" as the priority of an article's subject matter to be expanded by this WikiProject. The two assessments measure different parameters: a Start or Stub class article may well be of High or even Top importance, and vice versa.

Assessing an article's quality (other than FA or GA) and importance is done by placing the following template on its talk page, and filling in the appropriate parameter values:

{{WikiProject Freemasonry|class= |importance= }}

An article's quality assessment is generated from the class parameter in the {{WikiProject Banner Shell}}. Articles that have the {{WikiProject Freemasonry}} project banner on their talk page will be added to the appropriate categories by quality.

The following values may be used for the class parameter to describe the quality of the article (see Wikipedia:Content assessment for assessment criteria):

FA (for featured articles only; adds articles to Category:FA-Class Freemasonry articles)  FA
A (adds articles to Category:A-Class Freemasonry articles)  A
GA (for good articles only; adds articles to Category:GA-Class Freemasonry articles)  GA
B (adds articles to Category:B-Class Freemasonry articles) B
C (adds articles to Category:C-Class Freemasonry articles) C
Start (adds articles to Category:Start-Class Freemasonry articles) Start
Stub (adds articles to Category:Stub-Class Freemasonry articles) Stub
FL (for featured lists only; adds articles to Category:FL-Class Freemasonry articles)  FL
List (adds articles to Category:List-Class Freemasonry articles) List

For non-standard grades and non-mainspace content, the following values may be used for the class parameter:

Category (for categories; adds pages to Category:Category-Class Freemasonry articles) Category
Disambig (for disambiguation pages; adds pages to Category:Disambig-Class Freemasonry articles) Disambig
Draft (for drafts; adds pages to Category:Draft-Class Freemasonry articles) Draft
FM (for featured media only; adds pages to Category:FM-Class Freemasonry articles)  FM
File (for files and timed text; adds pages to Category:File-Class Freemasonry articles) File
Project (for project pages; adds pages to Category:Project-Class Freemasonry articles) Project
Redirect (for redirect pages; adds pages to Category:Redirect-Class Freemasonry articles) Redirect
Template (for templates and modules; adds pages to Category:Template-Class Freemasonry articles) Template
NA (for any other pages where assessment is unnecessary; adds pages to Category:NA-Class Freemasonry articles) NA
??? (articles for which a valid class has not yet been provided are listed in Category:Unassessed Freemasonry articles) ???

Articles that are unassessed or in dispute can be discussed on the article assessment talk page.

An article's importance assessment is generated from the importance parameter in the {{WikiProject Freemasonry}} project banner on its talk page:

{{WikiProject Freemasonry|importance=???}}

The following values may be used for the importance parameter to describe the relative importance of the article within the project (see Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Priority of topic for assessment criteria):

Top (adds articles to Category:Top-importance Freemasonry articles)  Top
High (adds articles to Category:High-importance Freemasonry articles)  High
Mid (adds articles to Category:Mid-importance Freemasonry articles)  Mid
Low (adds articles to Category:Low-importance Freemasonry articles)  Low
NA (adds articles to Category:NA-importance Freemasonry articles)  NA
??? (articles for which a valid importance rating has not yet been provided are listed in Category:Unknown-importance Freemasonry articles)  ???

As stated above, articles that are unassessed or in dispute can be discussed on the article assessment talk page.

  1. ^ For example, this image of the Battle of Normandy is grainy, but very few pictures of that event exist. However, where quite a number of pictures exist, for instance, the moon landing, FPC attempts to select the best of the ones produced.
  2. ^ An image has more encyclopedic value (often abbreviated to "EV" or "enc" in discussions) if it contributes strongly to a single article, rather than contributing weakly to many. Adding an image to numerous articles to gain EV is counterproductive and may antagonize both FPC reviewers and article editors.
  3. ^ While effects such as black and white, sepia, oversaturation, and abnormal angles may be visually pleasing, they often detract from the accurate depiction of the subject.
