Description
[edit]This WikiProject would cover everything relating to Vocaloid. From Hatsune Miku and the concerts she performs at to pieces of Vocaloid-related software, such as MikuMikuDance, everything relating to Vocaloid would have a page managed by this project. And whatever relates to Vocaloid that doesn't have an article yet, we'll create and manage! N Studios 2 16:03, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
- I want to start a new group because there currently is no group focusing on Vocaloid, it has a very large fanbase, but sadly, only a small amount of information relating to it on Wikipedia. As a result, it would be ideal for a Vocaloid-focused group to be created, because many people that know a lot about the subject would be able to create many pages that are accurate and contain as much information as possible on each page's topic.

Discussion
[edit]- I think that this would be better suited to be a task force, the scope of vocaloid seems limited to this: Template:Vocaloid. Any ideas for expansion? - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 23:19, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- True, but that's only in its current state. Project Vocaloid would create new pages for pieces of software that don't already have articles, such as MikuMikuMoving, the PMX & PMD Editors (the tool that is used for making models, accessories, and stages for MMD and MMM), MikuMikuCapture, the MME visual effects plugin for MMD, etc. There would also be pages talking about Vocaloid concerts (one of which I'm going to on the 31st), well-known MMD users and modelmakers (e.g. Tda, Re:YaMa*, Lat, and Animasa, to name a few), and other stuff, like Vocaloid-related apps on mobile devices, such as MMDPlayer on the iPhone and iPad.
- People think that this project will cover only what currently exists. But people are wrong. If it relates to Vocaloid, and it doesn't have an article yet, we'll create one for it. This is Wikipedia! Not a publishing company! We can take existing content and edit it, as well as add new articles at any time! But I don't blame you for thinking that it was limited to what's listed here. It's a common misconception. In reality, this project's sphere of influence is virtually limitless, due to the fact that there are millions of Vocaloid songs in existence, as well as many references to Vocaloid elsewhere, such as in the Lucky Star OVA, or how there are Vocaloid figurines and décor. But I do see why you'd think that its scope would be relatively small. But increasing the number of articles relating to Vocaloid would fix that. N Studios 2 18:41, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Wouldn't this do better as a taskforce of WP:Popular Culture? -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 05:05, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Not really. Vocaloid doesn't just relate to popular culture. It also relates to anime (due to the fact that the characters have anime-like appearances), software (because of the Vocaloid, Vocaloid2, and Vocaloid 3 being software, as well as MikuMikuDance), fictional characters, musical instruments (which is what the voicebanks for the software are used as), Japan (the location of its being most popular), and others. And one subject can't be a taskforce for multiple projects and still have the same contributions made by that taskforce. Since that isn't possible, I thought of making this its own project, due to how it relates to so much, and how many of the things it relates to are different from the others in more ways than one. N Studios 2 18:41, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- It is exactly popular culture. If it wasn't popular you wouldn't be making a wikiproject for it, and since it crosses popculture groups (anime/software/music), it doesn't fall in anyone one of the existing projects WPSOFTWARE, WPANIME, WPMUSIC, so it would be WPPOPCULTURE. Further, many taskforces are shared between multiple projects, so your statement about not spreading a taskforce across more than one project is incorrect. Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/War films task force is shared between WPMILHIST and WPFILM. {{WPMILHIST|Films-task-force=yes}} {{WPFILM|War-task-force=yes}} -- 70.24.244.158 (talk) 03:34, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
