Description
[edit]A project for the order Testudines. There are over 700 articles on Wikipedia dealing with turtles (either specific species, genera, or families, among others). Turtles live all over the world and Wikipedia needs to cover these animals better. Currently there are only a handful of FAs and GAs. Taxonomic ordering and systematic creation of new articles for certain species needs to be done. Certainly enough work for a separate project. NYMFan69-86 (talk) 05:38, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Notice how native turtles are being displaced by invasive species. Shameful.Brothercanyouspareadime (talk) 01:45, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]AP classes?
[edit]I won't have time for heavy lifting in article writing or intricate taxonomy debates. I like the energy and support the project. An aspect that intrigues me is the AP class participation, and would be willing to help out by getting a letter out maybe with that teacher fellow) urging more classes do the turtle projects. Perhaps this helps gets you all workers. I think there are several "plum" projects left, where the turtle is pretty well known and high hit (e.g. snapping, alligator snapping, western pond, diamondback terrapin) and so it would be easy for someone to work on and would help Wiki a lot, by getting the them to FA quality. - Wonderful idea. This is the project you're talking about: Wikipedia:WikiProject AP Biology 2010, high school students in AP Biology improving wikis coverage of biological articles. I was a part of it last year. I will let the coordinator (User:JimmyButler) know of this. Thank you.--NYMFan69-86 (talk) 20:52, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Herp project coordination?
[edit]If you don't have that many active workers here, you might think about limiting the project scope (to taxonomy work, or to special turtle advice) and stay pretty close to the Herp project so they can rate articles and the like. Not pushing it one way or the other, just a thought, for efficiency.TCO (talk) 19:52, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
