The proposed WikiProject was not created since much better as a as a Taskforce, just like the recently created Wikipedia:WikiProject Martial arts/Karate task force

Description
[edit]A WikiProject that would be dedicated to informing and educating Wikipedians and others about Taekwondo, and its history. SmileyTrek, who created this proposal page, is a black belt in Taekwondo. There should be some sort of verification process if it is decided black belts should be a verifiable rank with the Wikiproject. Grand Masters would likely need to verifiable, at the very least. Verification shouldn't be invasive, perhaps a few bits of information, and perhaps describing how you earned your black belt or Grand Master title without giving away unnecessary information. Perhaps we could also make quizzes. However, getting to an important point, some Taekwondo establishments have different rules. For example, Park District A might have a 15-belt system in their Taekwondo Program, but Taekwondo Academy B might have a 10-belt system.SmileyTrek (talk) 21:25, 28 March 2019 (UTC) {{{3}}}[reply]

- Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
I don't believe there is a Martial arts Wikiproject or a Taekwondo WikiProject, and I think it would be nice to inform people about a possibly helpful skill. Also, I would like to inform people of the history of Taekwondo. SmileyTrek (talk) 21:36, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Support
[edit]Also, specify whether or not you would join the project.
- SmileyTrek would join. SmileyTrek (talk) 01:51, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Phosphor would join. I've been doing taekwondo for more than 10 years, and I'm trying to make it more recognizable on wikipedia. I've created plenty of taekwondo related pages. ✘ PHOSPHOR | 💬📜 04:39, 31 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion
[edit]- There is a Wikipedia:WikiProject Martial arts which is somewhat active. Perhaps editors interested in this topic could try to bring some life back to that project, and use that as an organizing area for improving Taekwondo articles? Ajpolino (talk) 17:28, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose as stand-alone project; support as taskforce/workgroup (subproject) of WP:WikiProject Martial Arts, since taekwondo is obviously a major one. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 23:08, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose. I agree with SMcCandlish, I don't think this topic is big enough to merit a WikiProject of it's own (the fact that you only mentioned 3 articles and 0 categories does not help at all). A task force in WikiProject Martial Arts would be much more suitable. Ammar M. Elbehery (talk) 00:17, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
