In a nutshell: If policy is worth having, it's worth looking after. Slightly longer: Wikipedia doesn't maintain, manage or reform policy in a way that is either coordinated (tactical) or long-term (strategic). A WikiProject Policy is needed. Detailed proposal: User:Rd232/WP

[edit]- I well understand the problem but what would the project do that doesn't happen currently? And might this not exacerbate the self-selecting nature of those interested in policy which currently results in policy pages attracting editors who have an agenda. It is our policy that Wikipedia is not a bureaucracy but this project would tend to form another one. Colonel Warden (talk) 12:24, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks for your input, but this is exactly what the Project isn't. Bureaucracies have power. This WikiProject would have none: it is just a more focussed, self-organising discussion forum than the Village Pump is able to be. See User:Rd232/WP. As to attracting the wrong sort - well that's precisely one of the problems this would address: by coordinating policy discussion better, those less interested in policy wouldn't need to engage in constant discussion on every policy talk page; they'd only, periodically (once a month is suggested) need to express an opinion on much more well-developed proposals, which have already been through the stages of dealing with obvious criticisms.
