Description
[edit]Pikachu Bros. (talk) 15:47, 31 October 2012 (UTC) I know the wiki project for Pokémon exists, but there are 649 distinct Pokémon, and we could add information such as the Pokédex info. I know this was merged into the previously mentioned project, but the articles are missing Pokédex information, like Pichu, which should say somewhere Tiny Mouse Pokémon, or its most recent entry from Black 2 and White 2, which so happens to have the same entry as Pichu's in Black and White, so it would sayThe electric sacs in its cheeks are small. If even a little electricity leaks, it becomes shocked. We could create a Pokémon infobox to include Pokémon title, and Most Recent Pokédex info. This could be troubling as Ekans and Arbok use the same page. I also support creating individual pages for each Pokémon, as Zekrom, and many others, lack their own page.[reply]

- Wikipedia:WikiProject Fictional characters (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
- Most Pokémon have distinct information, yet most lack their own page. (89 out of 649) So I think each Pokémon deserves its own article.

Oppose
[edit]- Oppose - as point out by the proposer, this already has a wikiproject attached (WP:WikiProject Pokémon). You could always propose to create a taskforce under that project for your endeavor, but I don't see why it needs a whole new separate wikiproject. Further, this project verges on WP:NOTPLOT, WP:INUNIVERSE problems. -- 65.92.181.190 (talk) 06:57, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - Wikipedia focuses on the real-world significance of subjects. What you are proposing to add is in-game information that is basically trivia, and isn't of any significance in the real world. That content just isn't appropriate for Wikipedia, but instead belongs on a Pokemon specific wiki (i.e. Bulbapedia). Calathan (talk) 07:25, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Opppose - I agree with Calathan. This is why separate wikis like Bulbapedia exist: because trivial information that is too in universe and amounts to little more than fancruft does not belong on Wikipedia. User:Pikachu Bros. is simply unaware that every Pokemon had its own article prior to 2007 (WP:Pokémon test) but were merged for being non-notable.--十八 07:47, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - As much as I love Pokémon, such a WikiProject would do nothing more than add in-universe and fancruft to articles. This would not be enyclopedic at all. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 11:45, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - All Pokémon can not be split due to notability issues. It is a wonder we have as many as we do. Feel free to add more useful information to the lists, and improve their quality. And by the way, there is a taskforce for what you are proposing, Wikipedia:WikiProject Pokémon/Species. If you need any help, just ask. Blake (Talk·Edits) 13:50, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose as Wikipedia:WikiProject Pokédex used to exist and died, and now redirects to Wikipedia:WikiProject Pokémon. It could perhaps be a task force of WikiProject Pokémon, but that should be discussed on that talk page. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 19:17, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose – There is already a WikiProject that covers this entire scope plus other closely related articles. This is just needless duplication and would be a source of conflict as the two WikiProjects have opposing goals for what the articles should look like. —Farix (t | c) 23:59, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - Unfortunately this kind of information is too in universe and would fit better on dedicated sites like bulbapedia. Additionally splitting all Pokemon articles is problematic due to notability issues for many. Cabe6403 (Talk•Sign) 10:31, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - This is too in universe, and is better off on Bulbapedia (which already has a project of its own). ZappaOMati 01:45, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - Can't really add much that hasn't already been said, but years ago there was a separate article for almost every individual Pokemon in all the games up to that time. Nearly all of the articles were deleted per notability and not-a-directory policies, and attempts to revive those articles since have failed. To my knowledge, the articles that were allowed to remain were about particularly notable Pokemon, such as Pikachu, who have achieved real-world notability (Pikachu being used as one of Nintendo's mascots, etc.). I seriously doubt all 649 Pokemon can claim that sort of fame. I agree whole-heartedly though that this would be appropriate for a Pokemon-specific wiki. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 03:17, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion
[edit]There is the http://pokemon.wikia.com ... similar to other Wikia wikis that can accept Wikipedia transfers (and unlike some WMF projects that can't) You might also consider doing your additions there. -- 65.92.181.190 (talk) 15:32, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
