Description
[edit]A project to create new pages and improve existing pages dealing with outdoor recreation topics such as hiking, bicycling, canoeing, horseback riding, mountaineering, backpacking, and camping. Also, it should include pages of recreation locations such as Handies Peak, Yosemite National Park, and Matterhorn as well as lists of such places.
Categories might include Category:Mountains of the United States, Category:Hiking, Category:Scoutcraft, Category:Outdoor recreation, Category:Camping, Category:Orienteering, Category:Knots and its many subcategories, Category:Outdoor clothing brands, Category:Fishing, Category:United States National Park Service
Most of the articles, categories, and lists in Wikipedia:WikiProject Hiking Trails, Wikipedia:WikiProject Mountains, Wikipedia:WikiProject Backpacking, and other similar projects would be a part of the outdoor recreation project, and many of the topics in this project would be contained in Wikipedia:WikiProject Travel and Tourism. However, this project would be distinct in that:
- It would bring together the work of these constituent projects, making it a help to those who are interested in outdoor recreation in general.
- It would help improve inter-connectivity.

Discussion
[edit]- Definition seems to be a question here. Some of the subjects to be covered are activities and some are places. Mixing the two may confuse people. --Kleinzach 03:06, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't know that this is really an issue. Activities and places are both important parts of outdoor recreation.--Mattmatt1987 (talk) 17:16, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
