Description
[edit]The WikiProject Open Access would be concerned with
- starting and improving articles related to open access, as per this provisional list
- flagging OA-ness of references cited in articles on any topic, by way of {{Open access}}
- bringing Open-Access articles onto Wikisource
- bringing materials from open-access publications onto Commons
- supporting the reuse of such open-access-derived materials across Wikimedia projects
- Item 1 is in the purview of WikiProject Academic Journals but extends beyond journals into open-access books and open-access repositories.
- Item 2 would be integrated with existing citation templates, especially {{Cite journal}}, which is also in the scope of WikiProject Academic Journals.
- Item 3 overlaps with Wikisource:WikiProject Academic Papers
- Items 4 and 5 overlap with GLAM initiatives.

- Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
- For the moment, I would just like to gauge interest in a WikiProject approach to matters of Open Access. If the goals set out above can be achieved by way of existing WikiProjects, that is fine too.
