Description
[edit]To promote National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics on Wikipedia. There are over 25 conferences in the NAIA all with their own pages. All of these pages need work and attention. Plus the individual schools in the NAIA are not overly well documented in general, let alone the athletic sections of those pages. Please check what I have turned the Sunrise Conference page into a full spread page, however this page still needs work as well as all the others.

Discussion
[edit]This would be a project to upkeep the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) pages on WP. There are so many NCAA related pages currently, I feel the the smaller lesser known NAIA is being overlooked. Many high school students are online looking where to go to college, if they played sports in high school and not at a level to play in the NCAA they might not even know of the NAIA.
- Comment: WikiProject College football explicitly considers NAIA football within its scope. I believe WikProject College Basketball likewise considers NAIA basketball within its scope, though I don't see this explicitly stated. It's believed inactive, but I suspect that if it restarts, WikiProject College baseball likewise would consider NAIA baseball within its scope. cmadler (talk) 20:36, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: as Cmadler explains, NCAA and NAIA are considered together by WikiProject College football and WikProject College Basketball. I think they should remain two peas in a pod. I'm not sure that NAIA teams/schools are really covered any better or worse than those in NCAA Division II and III. I certainly like the idea of creating a project or taskforce to take primary responsibility for the conference articles, athletic program articles, and athletic sections in university/college articles. But I don't think we should cleave the NAIA away from the NCAA, and any standards that apply to one should apply to the other as well. Jweiss11 (talk) 23:51, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I almost suggested a taskforce/workgroup for NAIA. To the extent it falls under the other WikiProjects, it would be a shared workgroup, like the MILHIST/BIO group. cmadler (talk) 13:19, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Seconded. I also think this approach would be preferable to an entirely new project. DeFaultRyan 21:34, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Agree. I think this is the way to go. It seems more practical.--Paul McDonald (talk) 21:41, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment there has been some discussion over the years for the NAIA and NCAA to merge, creating what some people are calling "Division IV" so that kind of needs to be in consideration.--Paul McDonald (talk) 02:50, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment wouldn't it be better to be WP:WikiProject Collegiate atheletics in the United States ? 65.95.14.96 (talk) 07:49, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment. Don't mean to sound defeatist, but, if you do start a WikiProject, why not set goals for disestablishment of the Project as well? We have dozens, if not hundreds of Projects that an editor is trying to bring together now, that started off well and may have even met goals but are ongoing in name only. Suggest setting specific goals (I think you almost have) and/or time and dissolve/merge new Project at that time. Student7 (talk) 00:14, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
