Description
[edit]Maintenance and support for all Bemani and non-Bemani music video games such as Dance Dance Revolution and Beatmania as well and the creation of new articles for games, terms and major events surrounding this genre of games. This task force be under WikiProject Video games. This was proposed early last year and despite strong support was never approved. [edit]I also have been maintaining a ToDo page specifically for Dance Dance Revolution here if anyone wants to see an example of what this task force would be doing. æronphonehome 05:00, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not exactly sure where I should jump in for this discussion, but I'd have to oppose the creation of such a specific task force. I understand that this incorporates the Dance Dance Revolution games among other popular franchises, but why not create an even more general task force -- maybe, "Rhythm/Music game task force"? This way, popular franchises like Guitar Hero, and less known franchises like the few Donkey Konga games can all be included under one roof for the improvement of music related games. -- Nomader (Talk) 05:22, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- That could work... There are a lot of people involved in Guitar Hero I know but I don't believe they are part of any existing group. However focusing on Konami's games alone is far from specific. The list of Bemani series is just their music titles under the Bemani name alone, there are several more. Dance Dance Revolution all by itself needs a team and several weeks of work before any of them can be called good articles. And games are constantly being added to that list. I would think that if all music video games from other developers were added it would make a task force within the task force necessary for larger groups of articles. I altered the task force banner though, the icon still feels appropriate. Maybe there can be alternate versions of the banner. æronphonehome 06:51, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm not saying it has to be that way -- I was just thinking that by increasing the scope of the project to include those other franchises, it might increase activity in the task force. Looking over the DDR games, I can agree that there are a lot of DDR articles that need improvement, so I'm not totally opposed to the creation of simply a "Konami music" task force (hence why I'm just commenting instead of opposing). Either way, the icon is appropriate, it doesn't have to be Guitar themed. -- Nomader (Talk) 15:57, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- No no, I understood where you were coming from. I appreciate the suggestion. If all the Guitar Hero articles weren't next to perfect already I would suggest a Guitar Hero task force as well. But I don't know how 'right' it would be to play for the popular series of games just to get the more obscure or less popular ones to tag along for the ride is all. æronphonehome 08:39, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Yeah, I understand where you're coming from -- for now, I'm on the fence either way. I can see how it could increase activity in the task force, but Ic can also see how it would become ungainly huge. I'll wait until more editors have contributed to the discussion. Just a note though -- you probably shouldn't use the Guitar Hero logo in the Userbox, because I believe it's copyrighted. It kind of lands into fair use policy and all that jazz. Try to stick with free-use images.
- Actually all of those images are on commons. I just accidently linked to the svg here on en... while the commons only has a png. That's weird. The Guitar Hero logo rational on commons is that it is un-copyrightable styled text. :3 æronphonehome 03:51, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Haha, yeah you're right -- I hadn't thought of that. I think it needs to have some sort of artistic qualities to it to be able to be copyrighted. Should've thought of that haha. -- Nomader (Talk) 07:34, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
