Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/All Other Backlogs
- The following discussion is an archived proposal of the WikiProject below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the project's talk page (if created) or the WikiProject Council). No further edits should be made to this page.
The proposed WikiProject was not created. When I made this proposal, I thought listing it at the proposals page would get it attention. I still would like this wikiproject to exist, but I don't know how I would even begin to gather a group of interested editors with my non-existent advertising capabilities, so I'm withdrawing this. WikiProject All Other Backlogs
Description
[edit]Please visit the prototype in my userspace. That is what the project's main page would look like. It's a page where one can do two things: (1) List a maintenance category (2) Make a public commitment to fix a certain number of pages a month in a maintenance category.
Currently, if someone is working on a backlog, there is an issue: they see nobody and nobody sees them, so it may feel like they are doing it all alone. Especially when the backlog is very large, it can seem futile. This WikiProject would address this, by making it so the others can see what you're doing, and you can see what the others are doing.
I found one earlier proposal for a general backlog elimination project, which failed, but that was one where everyone would be working at the same backlog. Here, on the other hand, all kinds of backlogs will be listed and everybody can do the type of work they want to do.
The talk page of the project's main page would serve as a place for collaboration between people working on the same backlog. Other than that and a page that lists backlogs managed by other WikiProjects, I do not foresee any additional WikiProject pages - it would very much revolve around a single activity. PS: the main feature, the backlog table templates, are inspired by those used in the manual WikiProject directory and started brewing in my head while I was making this edit.
Support
[edit]Also, specify whether or not you would participate in the project's main activity.

Discussion
[edit]Note: If this proposal is accepted, I will move my userspace 'prototype' to WP:WikiProject All Other Backlogs. This should not be done with a subpages move - the templates that make up the backlog tables should go into the Template namespace, as (I think) they could be useful outside of the project.
