THE
LIFE OF JESUS
The article Ministry of Jesus discusses how his ministry is typically separated into distinct phases, the early part in Galillee and the final part in Judea.
Jesus' Early Galilean ministry begins when after his Baptism he goes back to Galilee. In this early period he preaches around Galilee and recruits his first disciples who begin to travel with him and eventually form the core of the early Church. The Major Galilean ministry includes the commissioning of the Twelve Apostles, and covers most of the ministry of Jesus in Galilee.
In the Later Judean ministry Jesus starts his final journey to Jerusalem through Judea. The Later Perean ministry refers to Jesus' travels towards Jerusalem through Perea . The Final ministry in Jerusalem is sometimes called the Passion Week and begins with Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem and ends with his crucifixion.
From the bookshelf
In this book Craig Blomberg covers a wide range of topics related to the study of the life of Jesus the gospels. He not only reviews the historical-critical methods used but applies them to each stage of the ministry of Jesus, and provides a detailed presentation of topics such as the teachings of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew.
Did you know...
- ... that about one third of the entire text of the four canonical gospels deals with just seven days of the life of Jesus, namely the Passion week in Jerusalem, when he was crucified and then resurrected?
