The (Roman Catholic) Diocese of XXX (Dioecesis XXXensis) is a suffragan diocese in western XXX in the ecclesiastical province of XXX.
History
[edit]Creation date of the diocese, which diocese was covering the territory before? Was it an apostolic vicariate before which was elevated to a diocese - then also include the history of the vicariate? Territorial changes, like dioceses split off, or parts reassigned to other dioceses. Historic events related to the catholic church within the diocese - list papal visits, martyrs from the diocese, important missionaries who worked in the area.
Geography
[edit]Area covered by the diocese, e.g. list the civil administrative entities covered. Neighboring dioceses. If boundary not same as the civil entity border describe what forms the boundary and why. Exclaves can also have an interesting history.
Subdivision of the diocese into regions/parishes. if possible also a map.
Ordinaries
[edit]List the bishops, auxiliary bishops, retired bishops, coadjutors, apostolic vicars, apostolic prefects. For old dioceses this list can be quite long, then list just the bishops of the last e.g. 100 years and make a separate article List of bishops of XXX, linking it here with the {{main|...}} template.
Also into this section vicar generals or apostolic administrator can be listed.
Major churches
[edit]Most important the cathedral, in case it has a separate article only the basic facts. Churches which were cathedral before? Co-Cathedrals? Historically or architecturally important churches within the diocese.
Coat of arms
[edit]In case the diocese has a coat of arms - not to be confused with the coat of arms of the current bishop! - display it and describe it.

[edit]Notable schools (for elementary schools or kindergartens the simple number would be enough, only a very famous should be noted by name), colleges and universities run by the church, priest seminaries.

Statistics
[edit]Pure number things, like the number of baptism, first communions, confirmations, marriages, funerals for a given year, development of the number of Catholics vs. total population over the time.
