Welcome to the Black British Music WikiProject. This project covers all articles about black British musicians, musical styles and history.
Wikipedia's coverage of the art, history and culture of people of African descent is not as good as it could be. The purpose of this page is to encourage people to get involved in improving content related to UK musicians of African descent.
However, not all artists meet Wikipedia's criteria for notability. For more information on the notability criteria for Wikipedia, see [WP:N]. Wikipedia's General Notability Guideline states that:
"If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list."
Therefore, before you add artists to the list of articles which need to be created, please make sure that they have received significant coverage in different sources.
Goals and scope
[edit]- Improve Wikipedia's coverage of Black British Music and maintaining such articles in a neutral and accurate manner.
- To serve as the central point of discussion for issues related to Black British Music on Wikipedia.
- Create and improve guidelines for articles about items related to Black British Music.
- Improve and maintain the navigation aids (tables of contents and indexes) for Black British Music-related topics on Wikipedia.
