Hi. I'm a little lost as to why my references aren't enough. I have his IMDB and reviews from newspapers and The Globe archives. I've seen pages with less viable references so I'm a bit stuck. Can you please give me a nod in the right direction? Cheers. Flying burrito sister (talk) 11:08, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

- @Flying burrito sister: (I guess you are a fan of Gram Parsons?) The problem is that while the newspapers and The Globe are good sources, all they do is mention William Mannering in passing context as part of a general cast list. It's difficult to write an encyclopedia article with passing mentions like this, as you end up with little more than a list. You need at least one or two reviews that are specifically about him - maybe The Stage has something we can use? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:14, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

I have improved my article and my user page. [[1]]
I believe my article reached more than adequate standards to be approved. If not please provide specific shortcomings, with more direction than stating the article is "bizarre". Sean p connors (talk) 18:13, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
- I have reviewed your article. Wikipedia does not publish original research. I understand you have been working on this model, but it must be published elsewhere to begin with and reviewed and discussed out in the software engineering community before it is well known enough to have a Wikipedia article about it. This isn't the place to make something known that isn't already known.
- Secondly, you need more practice in writing. Look at an article like Capability Maturity Model for how an article is organized. Read articles in the software engineering journals. An article has organization. It is much more than just a collection of bits of information. Don't give up. Think about contributing to Wikipedia in other ways by writing about topics for which there are already many references available. StarryGrandma (talk) 07:19, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Dear editor, I just completed the "Plot summary" section of a proposed entry on a novel by William Godwin -- the last of his novels -- and so a major omission in your encyclopedia. The editor comments that this is merely "regurgitation" of the plot and that Wikipedia doesn't do this. I have looked at many of the novel pages and there is usually a plot summary section. This, like the rest of Godwin's novels, with the exception of Caleb Williams, is such an obscure novel that people need to know whether it is something they need to read, so the detail is important. Could you please point to an ideal novel page so that I can use it as a model? Thanks.

- Take your pick from Wikipedia:Good articles/Language and literature#Novels. The History of Sir Charles Grandison or The Landlady (Fyodor Dostoyevsky) would be useful ones to look at. Both have examples of how you can use sections titled things like Themes, Structure, or Style to mention what reliable sources say about the novel, without needing to lay out the entire plot in excessive detail.
- You will still need to ensure that the Draft includes references to independent reliable sources that discuss the novel, in order for it to be accepted.
- Thank you for your work in filling the gaps in Wikipedia's coverage of literature. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 06:42, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
I need help with references. I have photos and awards along with some documentation but how do I insert reference regarding the person I am writing about?

- @Vagodino: Hello, and thanks for inquiring at the Help Desk. The easiest way to learn how to add references to an article is to read WP:REFB. Basically, you put the content of the reference (whether it be a website, a magazine, a book or another source) inside tags like this <ref>Reference goes here.</ref>. I've gone ahead and added a References section in your draft; whenever you use <ref> tags now, your references will automagically show up at the bottom of your article, as they should. As for when to use a reference, you will want to add inline citations whenever you make any contentious statements, or claims that are likely to be challenged, about the subject of your article. /wia /talk 01:50, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

I made the necessary revisions to my entry and was told by the editor that, after doing so, I could remove the tag. Here is his comment:
Hi @Gaw54: you are doing great in your article. In your article, kindly add add citations to the lead section (first paragraph) of the article. And after doing that, feel free to remove the tag there. You really have a great article (if not for your first one)! Face-smile.svg Regards --JAaron95 | Talk | Contribs 19:20, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
How do I remove the tag? Gaw54 (talk) 21:46, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Gaw54: Done—looks like Jaaron95 has taken care of it! In the future, you can remove a tag once the issue has been resolved by editing the page and looking at the very top for text like {{BLP sources|date=May 2015}}. That is the text that can be removed. /wia /talk 01:58, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
