Hello,

my article has just been rejected, based on the fact that it "read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopaedia".

I must say I tried to be neutral and provided references for all statements I was making (but obviously I didn't quite succeed). At the same time I wanted to give a background for a product, where it is coming from, what it its history, so that it is clear why the product is the way it is. These are all the things which I value in Wikipedia articles, that they give insights of the products, not just the staff you can read on the companies site.

Can you somebody please give a hint on where exactly I need to improve the article?

  • Is just tone?
  • Do I need to bring section "criticism"?
  • Do I need to get more references?
  • Does complete/all article "read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopaedia" or only part of it?

I don't know how to do an article, or really want to. I would like a page created for Chris Gantry. He is a singer/songwriter who wrote such songs as Everyday Houswife which was made popular by Glen Campbell. If you would prefer not to write an article, you could try asking at Wikipedia:Requested articles. Be sure to include details of independent reliable sources that discuss Gantry and his works; for example newspaper reviews of his books or magazine reviews of his records or concerts.   • Once you have edited the article, you can click the "Resubmit" button in the box at the top of the page. That will place it in the list of submissions to be reviewed.
  • If you can find a "free content" image (generally an image released under one of the licenses on this page), you can upload it to Wikimedia Commons without approval and use it in your draft.
    • Otherwise, you should not upload it even if you are approved (which is after you make ten edits). This is because Wikipedia's policy on non-free content states that "non-free" content shall only be used in articles (not article drafts). Once your draft is approved as an article, you can upload the image to Wikipedia or ask someone else to do so. --Anon126 (talk - contribs) 17:42, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My article on the festival November Music has been denied for 3 times. The problem is the external source. I've tried all different things, but it's still not excepted. I've looked at similar musical festivals on Wikipedia, and they don't have external sources either (only external links: their website).

Can you give me some help. We're an annual musical festivals and I don't have any scientific sources or anything like that.

I always recommend looking at Wikipedia Good Articles as examples of what to do, rather than just looking at any article that happens to be in the same subject area. In this case, there are several music festivals that are Wikipedia Good Articles, including Glastonbury Festival. That and the rather less well-known (and now bankrupt) Ashton Court Festival article make use of a variety of sources including local newspapers, major online news websites such as the BBC, and so on. It is acceptable for sources to be either online or offline, and in either Dutch or English. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 11:26, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My article about a living artist keeps on being declined regarding footnotes and I've tried to use the correct formatting but my IT skills seem to be defeated by the Wiki system or is it because all sections have to be referenced? Hello, I was asked to create this Wikipedia page by my internship. I noticed that another intern had started this article but it was deleted. I wanted to know why it was deleted and, if there was anything I could do to change it so that I can publish it. It was deleted by admin RHaworth.

Hi USCulcon. The reason he gave was that it appeared to be a Test page: A page created to test editing or other Wikipedia functions, i.e. it had no article content. Kind of the equivalent of a scribble. Before I go any further, though, I strongly urge you to change your username. Wikipedia policy does not allow usernames that imply that a person or persons are editing on behalf of an organization. More about that here. You can either apply for a user name change here, or, since you have only 2 edits (both here at the help desk), you can simply register a new username and stop editing from the old one. Now back to the article. This is a notable topic with lots of high quality independent sources available, e.g. [1]. Make sure you use them, and don't simply rely on material from the CULC0N website. Since you work for this US federal agency, it might be quite difficult for you to take a neutral tone, so be aware of that. Finally, I suggest you make a preliminary draft of the article in your user space before you submit it here via the Article Wizard. I submitted an article in August (August 16?) 2013, which was turned back for lack of proper references Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Van Day Truex. Truex already is mentioned in other Wikipedia articles, but I think he merits a primary article. I have altered the article to provide references and am ready to submit it again. While I have managed to format everything properly, it seems I cannot add a photo into the "about" box until after the article is approved. Please let me know if this is not correct as I cannot seem to find another way to do it. If the photo is your own work and you are willing to freely license it, you can upload it at Wikimedia Commons and it will then be possible to use it in the not-yet-approved submission or anywhere else. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 16:25, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I'm having trouble getting this submitted article published. I tried changing the language to be more neutral. I think that helped solve the issue, but now I received feedback that it needs to state more sources? I linked to as many sources and made footnotes of all sources. Can you advise specific areas where I should add source info, please?
