February 25

[edit]

Hi I can't figure out where to change the name/title of this article for submission. It's supposed to be AFC 'Amir Hosseinpour Choreographer'

But it says 'Amin' instead of 'Amir' . This is doubtless my typo but I can't see where to correct it. Gallura (talk) 00:27, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved the draft to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Amir Hosseinpour - since we do not have an article named Amir Hosseinpour yet, there's no need to add qualifiers. However, I had to decline the submission because it wasn't based reliable sources. Hosseinpour must have received significant coverage in reliable, independent sources such as news articles to be considered notable by Wikipedia's standards (IMDb is not considered significant coverage, and it doesn't confirm most of the draft anyway). Huon (talk) 01:31, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have added reviews of Amir Hosseinpour's work as opera director and choreographer - complimentary reviews - in reliable sources such as The Daily Telegraph and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ). I am interested to see how Wikipedia can try to justify a refusal to publish an article on Amir Hosseinpour, in these circumstances. Please let me know your decision asap Gallura (talk) 07:38, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How long will it take for the review of the kinetic book series page, it was submitted a while ago? Psych0less (talk) 01:35, 25 February 2013 (UTC)Psych0less[reply]

There is currently a massive backlog of almost 2,000 unreviewed submissions; it may take several weeks for a draft to be reviewed. I just had look at yours, but unfortunately had to decline it because the draft's content was insufficiently supported by reliable, independent sources such as news coverage or book reviews. In fact, I believe only one of your sources, Kirkus Reviews, so much as mentioned the book series, which apparently consists of but one book. And while Kirkus Reviews is a good source, on its own it's not enoug to establish the series' notability. Wikis, by the way, are user-submitted content and, with very rare exceptions, aren't considered reliable; neither is UrbanDictionary.

Using AFD in AFC topics

[edit]

Hello, I noticed a number of pending/reviewed submissions which are still appearing in the list. Now, I used AFD's template to mark them for deletion. It gives an warning "This template is being used in the wrong namespace. To nominate this talk page for deletion, go to Miscellany for deletion."

Could you please suggest a proper template/markup/tag to mark the submissions for deletion? Mehedi (talk) 04:07, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why would you want to delete submissions? Unless they come under one of the criteria for speedy deletion (in particular if they're a copyright violation, if they're an attack page or if they are blatant advertisements), they are usually left to linger until someone improves them so they can be accepted. Technically you could use {{mfd}}, but there's no need to do so. Huon (talk) 05:56, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Youth Leadership Academy

That was again copied and pasted from an external website, a copyright violation. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously; repeatedly adding copyright violations to Wikipedia may see you blocked from editing. You should summarize the sources in your own words, and the Youth Leadership Academy website isn't an WP:Independent source anyway. To be considered notable, organizations must have received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as news coverage. If the Youth Leadership Academy satisfies that criterion, the Article Wizard would be the preferred way to write a draft. By the way, your username seems to be in violation of our username policy because it is the name of an organization. Wikipedia allows only individuals to edit; shared accounts are not acceptable. Since your account hasn't yet made any significant edits, it may be easiest to abandon it and to create a new account with an acceptable name. Huon (talk) 06:06, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Review of previous page creation User:CarlaBoyd82/sandbox

[edit]

Hello!

I submitted a review for page well over a week ago for an artist called Glenn Kaino and have heard nothing back?

Is this normal? or did I do something wrong?

I have been looking up tutorials, since your site is not the most user friendly, although incredibly important.

Thank you!

There's currently a massive backlog of almost 2,000 unreviewed submissions, and it may take some time for a reviewer to look at yours. Please be patient. In the meantime, you should work on the draft's references: Firstly, you should use inline citations and footnotes to clarify which source supports which part of the draft. I've added one example; see WP:Referencing for beginners for more help on the technical side. Secondly, several of your references are not reliable sources, but press releases or blogs. Wikipedia content should be based on reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as news coverage or reviews in reputable art magazines. Wikipedia cannot give medical advice, and this doesn't seem to be a question about article creation. Huon (talk) 02:03, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
