[edit]Hi,I'm the Wikigeek4970. I submitted an article and it was declined. I hope Wikipedia can give me an answer why it was declined. Thanks.Wikigeek4970 (talk) 06:06, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- I can't see any article submissions in your contributions, although perhaps you submitted something and it was speedily deleted. In that case, you will be able to see the reason for speedy deletion if you go to the URL where the submission was located.
- The problem may be that Wikipedia only has articles about people that are discussed in detail in reliable sources that are independent of them, like newspapers or major magazines or major news websites. You can read more about this at WP:VRS. Wikipedia does not generally have articles about Wikigeeks, with a very few exceptions such as Jimbo Wales who is very well known internationally and widely reported in the news. - The problem is that Wikipedia's copyright is generally a little different to most places - you can freely copy articles here and even sell the content to other people. Therefore, we need to make sure that we only copy content from places with a similar licence. The bot in this case noticed a substantial match to a site that doesn't appear to have the same copyright as we do here. By far the easiest thing to do in this case is simply rewrite the article in your own words. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:26, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi
For the first time I created an article on Aug 13 named Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Arthur Maud. I used the article wizard, the preview looked good, I submitted and had the message '..can take up to 7 days'. I can't find any record of the submitted article in my account or on the created articles page by date. Any idea what happened to it?

- Hm...top of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Arthur Maud says "10:19, 13 August 2013 RHaworth (talk | contribs) deleted page Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Arthur Maud (G2: Test page)". So, your submission was deleted. Perhaps there was some issue with the saving and the resulting article looked like a test? If you have more questions about it, I'd suggest contacting the admin who deleted it, RHaworth, on RHaworth's talk page, here. Howicus (talk) 21:14, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- I've invited RHaworth to explain the specific reason for deleting it, but generally we delete pages per criteria G2 when it contains little more than various formatting characters, such as boxes or lists, and it's impossible to understand what the article is actually about. However, somebody should have explained this on your talk page, as submissions only get deleted if somebody specifically tags them. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:17, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
- The entire content of the page was Arthur Maud (composer). @Garethmaynard: if you wrote more than that, my sympathies, you clearly neglected to save it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:39, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

The submission of my article was declined today. I did not properly do the references. How do I go about citing those correctly?
Thank you for your help CyWakeman (talk) 20:53, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
- WP:REFB should help you with this. But you also need to read WP:42 and WP:NPOV and WP:PEACOCK and possibly WP:COI. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 01:32, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
- Don't write articles about yourself. If you truly are notable enough to deserve an article on Wikipedia, somebody will probably write one for you. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:19, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
