April 6

[edit]

Hello,

I have never created an Article before and I am trying to create an article for my client Nicholas Hofgren, could you advise exactly if the new amends I have added (Wikipedia requested more references and citations) are acceptable and if/when my submission will be turned into an article.

If this is not the case, it would be great to get advice on what extra references and citations you need so I can ensure it will be approved.

Many thanks,

Richard...

Hi, unfortunately the subject of your submission does not appear to meet Wikipedia's notability requirements. Additionally, Wikipedia does not encourage editors to create articles on subjects that they may have a conflict of interest with. I have amended the decline reason on your submission. re: Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/Le Bon Dieu Dans La Rue (Dans La Rue)

Hello,

I submitted a draft to review and post on the 4th. I understand that there is an incredible back log but I am wondering if there is a way I can post it wikipedia sonner. This is an assignment for a class and this is my graduating year. The professor will be grading them tomorrow and if mine is not on wikipedia, that is if she can't access it, I will lose the grade.

I am wondering if there is a way I can post it in the next 24 - 48 hrs?

Any advise would be so so appreciated!

Thank you!

How many men/women identify their work as software engineer or software developer?

[edit]

For the purpose of new software companies coming to Miami, Florida: How many men/women identify their work as software engineer or software developer? Knowing this would help new employers who utilize the talents of software engineers/developers in planning their business strategy and in obtaining start-up funds or loans for growth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.32.17.40 (talk) 17:09, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. Please consider asking this question at the Wikipedia:Reference desk. They specialize in knowledge questions and will try to answer any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what the Help Desk is for). Just follow the link, select the relevant section, and ask away. You could always try searching Wikipedia for an article related to the topic you want to know more about. I hope this helps. One of the reasons for disapproval was lack of notability. Yet, the subject of the article meets one or more of the specified criteria for notability and is the most prominent of many family members all of whom already have Wikipedia entries. I didn't know how to make this point in the body of the submission. Billodom2 (talk) 17:52, 6 April 2012 (UTC)billodom2[reply]

Whilst there may be a case for the subjects notability, the submission is not written from a neutral point of view. It needs a fundamental re-write. Some additional reliable sources wouldn't hurt either. Pol430 talk to me 21:46, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have submitted an article to be considered in Wikipedia with proper notability as a musician for the the above mentioned person. Under your notability requirements, the article satisfies at least 2 requirements as guideline #8, Grammy award winner as listed in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irakere. Additionally, this article satisfies guideline #6 as musical director of notable musical members listed in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irakere such as Chucho Valdes, Arturo Sandoval and Paquito D'Rivera. Please reconsider the article submission once again. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Armando de Sequeira Romeu kingtutx (talk) 18:09, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can see the Grammy was awarded to the group, not to Armando de Sequeira Romeu as an individual. He does just about scrape through on point 6 of WP:MUSICBIO though. However, the submission is not really written from a neutral point of view and as a BLP Article would benefit from inline citations. Pol430 talk to me 21:57, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As acknowledged in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irakere the group is notable and the reason for Grammy achievement is due to the efforts of key founders and members of the band thus each member has established individual notability. As all the sources indicate, talent and skill of the group is the reason for the Grammy. This article outlined unbiased historical facts which gives credibility to the living person and comments were made directly from their related sources. If you see it otherwise, then please provide your specific viewpoint on the subject. kingtutx (talk) 03:41, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You don't seem to fully comprehend the notability guidelines. Notability is not inherited; if a notable award is given collectively to a group, then the group is notable and warrants an article. It does not transpire that each individual member is inherently notable as a result of such an award. The article is not unbiased: "Havana’s most versatile jazzmen" -- POV; of the popular charanga band -- POV; Cuba’s venerated classical composers and bandleaders -- peacock term. Remove the NPOV violations and add some inline citations and I will probably accept the submission. Pol430 talk to me 08:18, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Changes were completed as you specified. Please advise accordingly. Also, there was a self-portrait of the musician uploaded to wiki which was provided to me with full permission from the musician but was deleted. This file needs to be restored. kingtutx (talk) 16:20, 7 April 2012 (UTC) kingtutx[reply]

Accepted The image was deleted because it was not properly licensed. It was a copyright violation and cannot be restored. If the owner of the image has genuinely given permission then the image needs to be released to Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Your submission is blank, I have removed the tags because there is nothing to review and nothing to move to project space. Вы должны попробовать русской Википедии, по адресу: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Заглавная_страница. Pol430 talk to me 21:29, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
