[edit]Review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO)
[edit]Hello,
I have tried twice to submit an article on an organisation called the Partnership for Observation of he Global Oceans. The second time, I included an extensive list of references including a variety of websites, an on-line brochure and an article published in a magazine called the Marine Scientist (publication of the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology). Twice the article was rejected on the grounds that it doesn't cite reliable sources. I don't understand this, especially since other similar organisations such as the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and the Global Ocean Observing System provide NO references and somehow their articles were accepted. I would be grateful if you could give me some advice on how I can get this article accepted, and why it keeps getting rejected when other articles that don't cite any references have been accepted. Thank you Sophisee (talk) 10:25, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hello Sophisee, the main problem with your references is that the do not appear to be independent. All of your sources appear to be websites affiliated in some way with POGO, so they don't really help you to establish notability. They are reliable, as far as that goes, but reliability alone does not help. What you want are third party sources; has the organization been profiled by magazines, newspapers, or online news organizations? Please add sources of that kind, and resubmit. question about citing website
[edit]Hello,
Per my reviewer, I am making final edits to the article Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/DarrellSFreeman. However, I can not figure out how to correct the website references. An error appears which I am not sure how to correct. Can you show me how to remove the error, or point me in the right direction? Thanks.

- You need to make sure the url links beging with http://www. and add a page title field. The documentation at Template:Cite web/doc explains how to use this template properly. Pol430 talk to me 16:35, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

There is no deadline, you can take your time writing this draft. However, if you do not make any edits to the draft, and a week passes, the draft will be automatically declined, but it will still be here and you can update it at any time.
I'm confused by this. I had let a week pass before, but now continued editing it. So does this mean that when I do submit it for review that it will automatically be declined? Because the next states "but it will still be here and you can update it at any time". Just really confused by these guidelines.

- You can ignore that message about declining the draft. If you submit it, it will go into the review queue. A412 (Talk • C) 13:56, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
I am unsure which language in the draft submission is not appropriate. The content has been judged OK in previous submissions -- it was the format of the inline citations that was the issue. Given that different reviewers seem to be applying different standards, what do I need to do to get this submission over the goal line? I would greatly appreciate some specificity into exactly where things might not be appropriate w/r/to editorial tone.
Thanks --

- Generally, I think the article looks good-after a quick reading. But, I would agree with the reviewers that the article does have some tone; specifically I would say Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/34_for_40_Trans-Americas_Ride#Origins_of_The_Campaign has a definite tone. Wording such as "Tillman's tragic death" and "Tillman's many achievements" etc denote a tone which should be minimized. After editing that section, I think you probably will meet with a more favorable review upon resubmit. Hope that helps. Dalisays (talk) 15:24, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Why are my pages not accepted--71.198.213.135 (talk) 15:01, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and the system you are using is a system for creating legitimate encyclopedia articles, not a random forum for asking rhetorical questions. Try the reference desk... Pol430 talk to me 16:22, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
I put in several edits which are not there now. This sucks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.56.21.57 (talk) 15:37, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- I had to merge content from your userspace to AFC space because there were two submissions on the same subject. The content you added got lost during that merge, but I have rescued it and placed it in the submission at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Nullspeeds in General Relativity. Are the edits you made there now? Please restrict your edits to that page only to avoid creating a housekeeping nightmare for us. Pol430 talk to me 16:17, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- AHA, yes they are there now. Thank you.
When I caught the ear of Hal Puthoff in early 2007, we talked on email at length for five months. His ideas on the polarizabile vacuum were in the same field as mine, tho I seek to start at a more basic level. Theorists in his camp start with a scalar permittivity in space, and then plug this into the Einstein field equations. I figure these equations are necessary constraints on the vacuum fields, and should be demonstrable on a more fundamental level. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ncutssss (talk • contribs) 15:21, 28 April 2012 (UTC) I hereby sign these comments ferchrissake. Puthoff and I enjoyed collegial, mutual critiquing, and he added an important understanding to my electron polarizability model. He always signed, Collegially yours, Hal. Nice. I backed him up on a figuring of distance integration having to do with black holes. If the close end of the integral is asymptotic, you might not be able to use this as a reference point.
Hi there,
We are trying to get the article [Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Sigurd Max Fordham] approved. The reviewer has come back saying the submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources, but with no further comments. Could anyone tell us:
1) Which sources aren't considered reliable enough? 2) How many more sources we need to ensure we can get it published?
There's not a lot of feedback given on the review process, which makes it difficult to get our submission to meet Wikipedia criteria!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

- Just quickly looking through it, it looks as if the vast majority of the sources are not independent of Max Fordham or organizations he was associated with. The remaining sources don't provide solid coverage of Fordham; just mention. Independent sources that provide meaningful coverage of Fordham are required to establish notability.
- As well, it appears your username may be in violation of policy. Please see WP:CORPNAME. It would be best if you quickly apply to have your username changed. Hope that helps. Dalisays (talk) 15:11, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Where are my footnotes dammit? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ncutssss (talk • contribs) 22:41, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- You deleted them with this edit. I've re-added them... Pol430 talk to me 23:11, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
