Q141

[edit]

Eade reckons he might give a 5th bulldog pup the opportunity to debut for this season this coming round. Who are the other 4 that have debuted? πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 02:03, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Andreis Everett, Jarrod Harbrow (never heard of him), Malcolm Lynch (ditto) and Tom Williams. --TheGrantley 10:29, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have left a message with Pippu to check whether my answer is correct (I got it from the Herald Sun website so it's probably a 50/50 chance of being correct). --TheGrantley 07:46, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
yep - sorry - that's correct!! πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 12:05, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would have just used wiki! List of 2007 AFL debuts is a very useful page... although it would have been wrong in this case! Come on peoples, help keep it (or at least your team) up to date!The-Pope 15:08, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q142

[edit]

The other day I thought up a great question for this quiz but I have since forgotten it. So, instead I'll ask "Name the former St Kilda player who was forced to have his foot and ankle amputated following a football related injury?" --TheGrantley 05:22, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought I answered this question yesterday but it must not have saved. Anyhoo, I would suggest it is Dean Grieg, who now works in the mail room at Melbourne University. --Roisterer 23:50, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Dean Greig is correct. You'd better have a turn. --TheGrantley 07:20, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q143

[edit]

Beyond being champion footballers, what do Robert Harvey, Jim Stynes and Chris Grant have in common? --Roisterer 01:51, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know that Chris Grant used to part-own an AFL store franchise. If not that, what about part-owners in a race horse? πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 05:16, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No. I like your thinking; it's nowhere near being correct but I like it all the same. --Roisterer 07:22, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Anything to do with games records? πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 07:52, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing whatsoever. For a clue, John Worsfold and Schimma both fit into the above category as well. --Roisterer 22:46, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They were all considered extremely likely coaching material when they were still playing? (This is a wild guess). --TheGrantley 00:12, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that guess was particularly wild and woolly. And wrong. A further clue would be that while Che Cockatoo-Collins fit with the others mentioned, Gavin Wanganeen doesn't. --Roisterer 06:42, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They played their first year of senior footy with a high number, and were given a lower number in subsequent years? πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!)
Nope - my guess is the reverse. They all wore the same number throughout their careers. Add Matthew Richardson to the list if that's the case. - Bricks J. Winzer 08:31, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No on both cases. Matthew Richardson isn't on the list, nor is Nathan Buckley but obviously both Burgoyne's are. --Roisterer 09:35, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Only played for one club Gnangarra 10:45, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Che Cockatoo-Collins played for Port Adelaide and Essendon. And Dale Kickett, who appears on this list, played for more AFL clubs than I have had hot lunches. I guessed this answer in an earlier question of this quiz and while it was wrong then, it is obviously right this time. --Roisterer 10:53, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They were all ineligible for the Brownlow in the same season Gnangarra 13:11, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
they played their junior footy in the state in which they were first drafted. πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 13:20, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
haha - forget that - I just noticed Stynes! πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 13:21, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. I'm not sure, beyond naming other players that fit into this category, what sort of clue to give that doesn't give it away. Can I just say that of the Ablett's, Gary Senior, Kevin, Geoff, Gary Jnr and Nathan all fit into this category but Luke doesn't. --Roisterer 07:34, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The werent drafted, to their initial club . Gnangarra 08:31, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Schimma and Yablett would predate the draft. πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 09:19, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
ah - they all had a brother play with the same club who didn't quite make the grade? πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 09:20, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But Dale Kickett is not Derek Kickett's brother... you really should get out more to have some more hot lunches... only 5 hot lunches in your life! Amazing. Peter Worsfold only played for Brisbane, not WC, so it can't be the same club rule. So apart from Kickett, they had a brother who played VFL/AFL football.The-Pope 12:58, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Phew! The Pope gets the nod because a number of players, including David & Donald Cockatoo-Collins, played at different AFL clubs to their more illustrious brother. Meanwhile, Pippu gets a warm inner feeling for making the general connection. --Roisterer 22:59, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm cool - in fact it's almost a relief not having to think up a question! πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 07:09, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q144

[edit]

What links the following players: Geoff Raines, Alex Ishchenko, Michael Murphy, Winston Abraham and Darryl Poole. The-Pope 15:46, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there's a group of names you don't expect to see grouped toghether. Pooley, champion that he was, played 25 AFL games for Port, had only one working eye and was suspended a few times for giving the coat hanger to unlucky players. I can't see how this possibly links to any of the other players mentioned. <wild guess> A particular person wrongly predicted that each would win a Brownlow Medal?</wild guess> --Roisterer 23:03, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Since I only went to school with Ishchenko its not me, the East Perth Football club maybe? Gnangarra 02:08, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You've got their autographs? --TheGrantley 03:35, 10 August 2007 (UTC) (who was once very excited to get Mark Naley's autograph)[reply]
Roisterer was the closest in part of what he said, but I wouldn't know who Murphy or Poole were, let alone get their autograph. Hint... something to do with each of their times with a new team in the AFL/VFL. The-Pope 06:11, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My guess: their first game with a new club was also the coach's first game with that club. - Bricks J. Winzer 07:30, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That may be right, but would also apply to many of their teammates. This unwanted record is only applicable to these players from their clubs.
Could it be that each was the first to be suspended with a new AFL club? --TheGrantley 03:24, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's it, they were the first Bear, Eagle, Crow, Docker and Power player to be found guilty in a home and away match. The-Pope 08:38, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the latest edition of Australian Musclemag International, cover model The Rock is clad in which AFL team's guernsey? --TheGrantley 06:49, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Australian Musclemag International? Can't say I've heard of the magazine but I would guess that The Rock might wear a Swans guernsey in tribute to big bad bustling Barry Hall. --Roisterer 00:28, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll guess Eddiewood, always trying to get some publicity. My copy must have been delivered to the wrong address this month - or maybe I only get the Australian Musclemag National edition, not the international one. Damn... looks like I need to think of a new question... unless Nov/Dec 2006 isn't the latest edition! Given the headline "10 Steroid myths revealed", I'm surprised it isn't a coastal team, not from the East. The-Pope 00:42, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Na it wouldnt be a non eastern coastal, there suppose to be party animals, The Rock is more like the strongmen of the AFL holding 15 teams above their head, and still putting on a show without getting a result. Gnangarra 01:03, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
While we're here, I just tried to archive some earlier questions but I'm afraid the archiving system defeated me. How does one do it? --Roisterer 02:02, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I forgot that someone could look it up on the internet. The Rock is indeed wearing a Collingwood jumper. No idea why, although I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie has his mitts involved somewhere. --TheGrantley 07:42, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I did actually guess first, before finding the link to confirm it.

Q146

[edit]

Who appeared at Subiaco Oval a few years ago alongside a bevy of bikini clad beauties to promote/launch his multinational companies latest product. He then watched the game alongside a famous Aussie from another sport who wouldn't have been happy with the result. The-Pope 18:18, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Branson? Was the other famous Australian Ricky Ponting? --TheGrantley 05:28, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Correct on the main main... Branson is the one, he was there with the babes to launch his credit card, but it wasn't Ponting or his beloved Roos. Either have another guess, or just ask another question. The-Pope 18:05, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps Dennis Lillee, who I guess would support West Coast?
Cool. I intended to answer "James Packer" but somehow typed Richard Branson instead. Spooky. Also, this article [www.theage.com.au/articles/2003/05/18/1053196470272.html] states that Shane Warne was the other man who saw St Kilda get done by Freo. --TheGrantley 00:49, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q147

[edit]

What does Essendon have in common with the Atlanta Braves and the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club? --TheGrantley 00:51, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On behalf of the Gloucestershire and Staffordshire County Cricket Clubs, Langholm and Streatham-Croydon RFC and the Worcester Warriors (and a bunch of Pommy soccer teams), I protest that this question is incomplete! The-Pope 16:39, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But surely the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club takes precedence over these other minor clubs. You are correct. --TheGrantley 05:47, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q148

[edit]

I'll stick with the tribunal questions. Before Baker, what was the most AFL case to have a 7 or more match suspension for a single player vs player event - who, when and why. (ie excluding Kickett/Lynch/Williams etc who either had multiple charges from the one game, or who's charge included an ump or coach or whatever). The-Pope 18:20, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

David Rhys-Jones? --Roisterer 23:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Or, Peter Filandia? --Roisterer 00:32, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad I included AFL case in the question, so Filandia's 10 weeks and 116 google hits for "Peter Filandia" +scrotum do not count. Rhys Jones didn't seem to ever get more than 4 weeks at once. The-Pope 01:20, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
1994 Tony Lockett's got 9 weeks for an elbow tap to Peter Caven. Gnangarra 01:32, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It was more recent than Plugga cavin' in Caven's face. It was Dermott Brereton breaking Tony Free's jaw with an alleged 'Karate Chop' in 1997! TwentyThirdMan 18:49, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Dermie is the one. Your go Mr 23rd.The-Pope 10:54, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q149

[edit]

Cool, Who am I: I'm the only player with my first name to ever play AFL/VFL footy. I probably wouldn't have lasted too long at Collingwood recently, given my surname, although the only other AFL player to share my surname did play at the Pies a long time ago. I played less than 30 senior games during my 7 years in the AFL. Never more than 10 in a season. I played for two AFL teams, my second last game for my first team was a finals victory over my future team. TwentyThirdMan 17:56, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't all guess at once! His first team was an interstate team. TwentyThirdMan 20:40, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sanford Wheeler? --TheGrantley 00:10, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, Sanford only played for one AFL club, had more than 30 games and more than one other Wheeler has played AFL, and none for the pies. Other than that, great guess! ;) Seriously, my two teams are playing a final against each other this weekend... I don't think they'll be naming the best player medal after me. Maybe the biggest, boofiest bloke out there might win a medal named after me. TwentyThirdMan 18:33, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was about to say Austin McCrabb but I don't think he was that boofy. I'll have another think about it. --Roisterer 23:58, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
(a Eureka! moment later) Randall Bone! --Roisterer 01:41, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Spot on! gotta love the big boofy guys! Hung around for longer than you thought, before he was finally boned. TwentyThirdMan 14:14, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q150

[edit]

After watching the Quiz run through a banner in recognition of reaching 150 questions, I'll get on with asking the following: Name the player, born in the Northern Territory, who played for 3 AFL clubs, all based in different states and would have played for a fourth but for injury. --Roisterer 23:16, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fabian Francis perhaps? His article only mentions two states though... afl tables to the rescue though. The-Pope 23:49, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Spot on. I have added some more info to the Francis article, although I may have to dig around for some extra stuff. --Roisterer 00:16, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q151

[edit]

Up until the draft and fixed playing lists etc, it wasn't extremely uncommon for players to play for two VFL clubs in the one year. Of course it's impossible to do so now. Who was the last player to play for two AFL/VFL clubs in the one season? The-Pope 03:55, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ian McMullin? --TheGrantley 07:03, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wasn't the guy I thought was the answer, as I did check on him - and misread the stats! So yes he is half the answer, David Johnston being the other half. Two (in a football sense) very unremarkable players, each around 50-60 games over 6 or 7 years, but both got drafted in the second last mid year draft in 1992 - most of the 1993 selections were from outside the AFL. Good to see Ian has kids though! The-Pope 11:14, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Great, when Josh McMullin makes his AFL debut, we'll be able to tell people we knew him back when he was a mere wikivandal. --Roisterer 23:27, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't think it was Ian McMullin either but I thought you would give us a clue after my guess. --TheGrantley 08:05, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q152

[edit]

Who is considered the first indigenous player to play VFL/AFL football? --TheGrantley 08:09, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Douglas Nicholls? --Roisterer 06:30, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No. I got this answer from reading a wikipedia page. --TheGrantley 22:50, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A wikipedia page, hmm? Well, I hope it's Joe Johnson? --Roisterer 03:41, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry people, I had an unexpected holiday away from my computer. Joe Johnson it is, although one has to remember that records of Aboriginal players in the early VFL are spotty and there could be earlier players. TheGrantley 22:51, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q153

[edit]

Which Australian football hall of famer played 25 games for North Melbourne? --Roisterer 01:36, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should have guessed it would be a Port player... Russell Ebert perhaps? The-Pope 20:17, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed it is. --Roisterer 23:51, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q154

[edit]

Excluding all West Australians and South Australians (Phillip Matera leads from Peter Sumich, and Matthew Pavlich should overtake them both in the next year or two), who has kicked the most goals at Subiaco Oval in VFL/AFL games (ie not including WAFL, SOO, Preseason etc). The-Pope 22:59, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Plugger? --TheGrantley 06:01, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say Lloyd. Gnangarra 13:02, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wrong and wrong. Plugger played a fair bit at the WACA, so has less than 30 goals at Subi, Lloyd has less than 50 goals. This guy has over 80. The-Pope 22:53, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sav Rocca? --Roisterer 04:57, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As a former Pies player, I'd be surprised if he even knew where Subi was! Under 30 goals for big Sav. Time for a clue. He won't be kicking as many goals in the future at Subi. The-Pope 18:45, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Does that mean it's Chris Judd? --Roisterer 00:46, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure is. Gehrig is 2nd by my count, only a couple of goals behind Judd. For Vic based players, they are lucky to play in WA once or twice a year, so they struggle to rack up a big tally. The-Pope 01:51, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you hadn't given the clue I could have had 50 guesses and still not picked Judd. --Roisterer 23:32, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q155

[edit]

Back in 1993 then Brisbane coach Robert Walls claimed that 4 of his players would go on to play 200 games and be integral parts of a Brisbane premiership or two. His statement was fairly accurate as three of those players were Justin Leppitsch, Daryl White and Michael Voss. The fourth one though didn't play 200 games or play in a premiership. Who was the odd man out? --Roisterer 23:47, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Search for Brisbane Bear + 17-20 years old in 1993 + as it's Roisterer, look for someone from South Australia, specifically Port Adelaide... Fabian Francis? Interestingly, Matthew Clarke was a 20 year old first year player for Brissy in 1993 and played the 200 games, except he left before the premierships came, and after Adelaide got theirs. The-Pope 22:29, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not Flash or Clarke. In fact, I believe the chap wasn't from SA. --Roisterer 23:50, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll wait a day, to give someone else a chance, and then revert to my first guess, before I thought the Port angle might come in to play! I think the answer is a redlink on wiki at the moment. The-Pope 00:57, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How about Steve McLucklie? --TheGrantley 03:54, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nathan Buckley was at the Bears in 93... didn't play in a premiership or 200 games with Brissy. TwentyThirdMan 19:00, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My original guess was to be Nathan Chapman of the NFL punting tryout fame... shame he's still a redlink. Early draft pick, played a fair bit in 1993, then injuries took their toll. Not from SA either. The-Pope 03:30, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nathan Chapman is the man; I hope my clue reference to "the chap" assisted in your guess. I think Brisbane got Brad Scott and a draft choice from Hawthorn in return for Chapman when he went to the Hawks so Brissy might have gotten the better end of that deal. --Roisterer 03:59, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q156

[edit]

Steven King is likely play in two grand finals in two weeks. Who was the last person to do this (stick to AFL/VFL/WAFL/SANFL only - QFL/NSWFL too hard to track!) The-Pope 02:27, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Roger Ja,mes?
Obviously the preceding anon IP person meant Roger Ja'mes, the famous Spanish player. I merely refer to Nathan Bassett. --Roisterer 08:06, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I thought he meant Roger Ja, and then was assuming in a Safrican accent that I was an unmarried female. Anyway, James plays for Norwood and they won the spoon the year Port won the flag, and my answer is more recent that when Adelaide last played in a grand final. And just in case someone played in a reserves, colts or U18 GF... must be league. The-Pope 19:24, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see Roisterer hasn't reappeared after the grand final. I was about to answer Aaron Keating but instead I will now have to guess Steve Allessio. --TheGrantley 10:52, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've got no idea but in keeping with the humour of the thread I'll say Ja'mie King. (Clinton King was about as effective...) - Bricks J. Winzer 09:38, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
None of these. Not sure how much of a clue I can give... He's a West Aussie, but didn't play in the WAFL GF. He only won one medal, unlike Steven Kings two. The-Pope 11:48, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Was it a literal "West" brother, aka Scott West, for the doggies and their VFL team? Gnangarra 13:26, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, no cryptic clues here. It is mentioned in his wiki article.The-Pope 00:58, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well it has taken me rather longer than I (and if they knew, my employer) hoped to track down the answer but I belive the answer can be found at Tristen Walker. Also, apparently there was a grand final over the weekend involving Port but my mind seems to be wiped of all the details. --Roisterer 06:50, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Texas Walker is the guy. Also, apparently, there was a 2007 AFL season, but my mind has wiped all of the details! At least you had something to cheer about this year! The-Pope 17:42, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q157

[edit]

Not quite AFL but hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult: Which former Australian Test cricketer played 14 senior games for East Fremantle Football Club? --Roisterer 07:34, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That would be the former boss of the brewery, Graeme Wood. Back in the day when you could play two sports. The-Pope 11:13, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I had visions of that question lasting a few days. Wood is the man. --Roisterer 22:50, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know that. I updated List of Australian rules football and cricket players which no doubt has many more holes. —Moondyne 01:22, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. I have another dual football/cricket player related question and he currently isn't on the list. I may wait until after the question to add him. --Roisterer 05:17, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q158

[edit]

I'm going to invoke Rule 3 and ask "which foreign born player made his AFL debut in Round 3, 1996? --TheGrantley 06:07, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I guess this is one way to get your stats up, get the question right, then forget to ask a new one, then get the next one too! It's a technique that one of the many voices in CLIVE'S head might have suggested. Now, do you reckon I should redirect Clive straight to his page or to Cometti's? And I promise to ask a question this time! The-Pope 11:02, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I haven't been able to access my account for a few days but you are indeed right. Sad to see that Clive did his knee this year with Port Magpies and this might be the end of him. --TheGrantley 06:24, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Q159

[edit]

Which future Sandover Medalist first officially "played" for his WAFL club fourths team as a 9 year old to tie him to the club, as country zoning hadn't yet been in place. And no, he didn't actually get onto the ground, just on the bench all game. The-Pope 13:07, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At an absolute wild guess, Stephen Michael? --Roisterer 23:12, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, not a Southie (I like to make them a bit less obvious!) This guy also played at AFL/VFL level. The-Pope 01:47, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Barry Cable, then? --Roisterer 02:16, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Graham "Polly" Farmer Gnangarra 02:32, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Or Brian Peake? --TheGrantley 07:11, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
None of them. The reason the club was so eager to align him to their club was that his older brother already played for the team and he'd set some junior athletics records. The-Pope 10:05, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Does the player in question also have a son who played AFL? --TheGrantley 01:07, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, but plenty of others with his surname have played WAFL - he's the only one to have played AFL/VFL.The-Pope 12:02, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Phil Narkle Gnangarra 12:34, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's him. It's the opening line in the outstanding book by Alan East on all Sandover Medalists. I'll be using it as a reference to expand (and/or create) articles on Sandover Medalists over summer. The-Pope 14:05, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Born in England, I'm the son of a South Australian Politician when I arrived in Fremantle I vowed to stay not a day over my contract. Gnangarra 16:03, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is this a trick question? --Roisterer 03:19, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nope he's well known and has had a long term impact on the game. Gnangarra 03:24, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And he was married in Melbourne. Gnangarra 03:28, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt old CLIVE is the answer but he's the only person who even vaguely fits your question, so here I am guessing Clive. --TheGrantley 02:41, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not Clive, this person died before Clive was born, therefore he didnt play for the Dockers, but did arrive in Fremantle, Western Australia from Adelaide, South Australia by boat. Gnangarra 03:36, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
even without reading it I'd expect him to be in the book mentioned by "The Pope" in q159 Gnangarra 09:40, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was about to say Tom Wills but I might have another guess. --Roisterer 22:50, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nice guess getting closer he graduated from North Adelaide Grammar the year after Wills died, but its other 40 years before he has his effect on football. Gnangarra 00:52, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Alfred Sandover! --Roisterer 05:24, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
