The WikiVulture (Gyps wikipediensis) is a rarely-seen WikiTaxon. WikiVultures are believed[according to whom?] to spend most of their time gliding high above the range of human vision, or perching quietly on remote vantage points, and are easily overlooked. However, they are irresistibly attracted, even at great distances, by the sight and scent of carrion and by certain sounds, especially those which emanate from user talk pages. A fortunate WikiOrnithologist may occasionally observe one or more feasting on the remains and disgorging the indigestible fragments.
In many habitats, they are apex predators. In certain mythologies[which?], some are rumoured to possess supernatural abilities, or even to be emanations of the divinity itself, with near-omniscience, who can sometimes be invoked by observant believers who know and perform the correct prayers and rituals.[according to whom?]
WikiVultures appear to be solitary animals. They have not been observed to compete with any of the other WikiFauna which feed on the same prey, including other individuals in their own species. Their mating and breeding rituals can only be conjectured. Fanciful suggestions that they appear by spontaneous generation or are the result of unholy experiments can probably be dismissed.[original research?]
Although Gyps is an Old World genus, as of November 2020[update] there have been unverified reports of G. wikipediensis from all continents except Antarctica.
