John Oliver
[edit]John William Oliver (born 23 April 1977) is a British and American comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, and television host. Starting his career as a stand-up comedian in the United Kingdom, he came to wider attention for his work in the United States as Senior British Correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart from 2006 to 2013. After an eight-week stint as guest-host on The Daily Show received positive reviews, Oliver was given his own late-night show on HBO, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, which he has hosted since 2014. Oliver has received widespread critical and popular recognition for his work on the series, and its influence over US culture, legislation and policymaking has been dubbed the "John Oliver effect". He has received sixteen Emmy Awards and two Peabody Awards for his work on Last Week Tonight, and was included in the 2015 Time 100. - Sure, no reason you would be aware ... I won't record this as a "fail", it's just an early start on next year's TFAR nomination. FWIW, we tend to get just about all of our WP:TFAR and WP:TFAP nominations by no later than the middle of the month before the month before ... so, sometimes we can work things in by this point, sometimes we can't.
