With absolutely zero portal space transclusions besides here, this template can reasonably be considered unused. It's one/two transclusions (if you count the talk page) can be substituted and this template deleted. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 21:20, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was delete. At the time of writing the template is not transcluded in List of Thor (Marvel Comics) supporting characters, so I am sending this directly to the "To orphan" holding cell. kingboyk (talk) 03:14, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

- Delete. All the templates in the category are actually offbase w.r.t. WP:WAF and should be deleted accordingly. If/where a family tree is necessary for an article, it should be in that article directly instead of via template. --Izno (talk) 14:45, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

- Delete The linked discussion found that while the inclusion on List of Thor (Marvel Comics) supporting characters may be appropriate, inclusion of this template on individual character articles violates WP:INUNIVERSE and that the same is true for the other templates in Category:Fictional family tree templates. The instance in the list of characters can be substituted. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 10:38, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

Propose merging Template:Horizontal ToC with Template:Horizontal TOC.
I don't really see any valid reason for there to be a manually created list which requires updating it every time a header changes (and these things happen), or a section added or removed. But even if there was, this feature could have been added to {{Horizontal TOC}} instead of creating a very confusingly named template. So my personal preference is just to replace and delete, but if someone thinks this feature is good, then merge. Gonnym (talk) 09:26, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
- Comment Horizontal ToC (the custom one) does have a very niche use on articles with dozens of headings where each heading name is so long it needs to be abbreviated. No comment on merging yet, but at the very least, this first template should be renamed. BLAIXX 11:17, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
- Comment based on functionality, I would say the first one could be replaced by/merged with Template:OnelinerTOC. Frietjes (talk) 13:23, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
- TBH even {{OnelinerTOC}} seems to be using a redundant template. It's used on "List of airports in XXX" articles, such as List of airports in Colorado. I've checked 3-4 and they all seem to have the following sections - "Airports", "See also", "References" and "External link" with the EL missing from the ToC (for no really valid reason) - {{Horizontal TOC}} can do the same thing. Even if sub-sections would have been added, with the use of the
|limit=2
parameter it would produce the same result. --Gonnym (talk) 14:20, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
