- Template:Infobox space expedition (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:Infobox space mission (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Propose merging {{Infobox space expedition}} into {{Infobox space mission}}. the space mission infobox handles docking dates much better, and the only unique thing in the space expedition box is the landing vehicle, which could be easily added. Frietjes (talk) 16:58, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

- Comment I would say that both should be merged to a new title {{Infobox manned space mission}}, since space missions do not need to be manned, and these are specifically for manned missions. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 00:31, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Articles like AS-201 and Pad Abort Test-1 (Apollo) which were unmannned missions, use {{Infobox space mission}}, so {{Infobox manned space mission}} would be an inappropriate title. --AussieLegend (✉) 16:50, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
- Those are both missions in manned space projects. This template doesn't work for unmanned missions that are not related to manned space. -- 70.24.244.158 (talk) 07:31, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- Nevertheless, using "manned space mission" for missions that were themselves unmanned seems misleading. It might be better to leave this at "Infobox space mission". --AussieLegend (✉) 07:53, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- It's rather more misleading for it to be called "space mission" when it isn't for the robotic ones. Though WDG points out these have been obsoleted, and will soon be deleted to take care of this. -- 70.24.244.158 (talk) 07:20, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

- Close as redundant - All of the templates already mentioned in this discussion have already been merged into {{Infobox spaceflight}}. Due to the large numbers of transclusions and different syntaxes the process of changing over the templates is taking a while, but fiddling with the old, redundant, templates in the meantime would be counterproductive. --W. Procedural keepthis is a bad mass-grouping of templates. They should be nominated individually. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 11:39, 30 August 2013 (UTC)- What's bad about it? All of these are navboxes; of/to do with international organisations; that link only to country articles (and sometimes to other international orgs). Hard to get more specific than that. Regardless, I nominated them all on the same basis. — Lfdder (talk) 11:44, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

- Comment The nominator is also lacking in elucidating what is being overkilled, thus having a poor rationale. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 11:41, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Nothing is "being overkilled"; it is overkill to have this many navboxes to link between country articles. — Lfdder (talk) 11:46, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Why exactly? If every single one of these navboxes was shoved on a single article, that may be overkill and there'd be a legitimate discussion to be had over which were necessary and which may be removed from that article (though of course there's always the availability of collapsing them). But they're not. Nor have you explained why a navbox only linking to a certain class of article, in this case, county articles, is a reason to delete. - Chrism would like to hear from you 15:20, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Some have too many. Countries can be categorised into so many things and we'd have hundreds of navboxes if were to make one for each category we can think of. More importantly, we don't need to make navboxes for superficial or tangential relationships....like these. — Lfdder (talk) 15:45, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Some articles may indeed have too many. Some of these navboxes may be for very superficial relationships. Going from there to "let's delete all of the navboxes, anywhere, ever" seems very much like a case of accidentally disposing of the baby while draining the bathwater. As yet, you've provided no rationale for why these are "superficial or tangential relationships" other than a statement that these are "superficial or tangential relationships" without any attempt to discuss any of these in any form of detail. - Chrism would like to hear from you 17:04, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Near as I can tell, Lfdder has not argued "let's delete all of the navboxes, anywhere, ever", so lets can the hyperbole. It adds nothing of value to the discussion. Resolute 20:02, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

- Keep Useful navigational boxes, that are very helpful whenever I search for a relevant subject. Dimadick (talk) 15:30, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- I'm leaning delete for most of these, though there are some exceptions. I feel this way for several reasons: 1. linkspam. Turkey, for instance, has 16 such templates in the "International organisations" section of its link farm. 2. Theses linkspam templates are article content in template namespace. Primarily since they are a simple list of countries in nearly all cases, and secondarily because the templates collectively become "List of international organisations foo nation is a member of". 3. Negligible navigational value. 3a: A user looking up G8, for instance, is not going to find the information they want by going from the Canada article to the Japan article. 3b. A reader looking for a list of member nations is going to go to the G8 article long before they start searching for the needle in the haystack at the bottom of these national articles. 3c. High degree of redundancy (e.g.: G8, G8+5, G20, etc) Specific comments for each template, where necessary. Resolute 20:02, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- As the argument is the same for all deletion requests I don't see why they are separated as we could end up with deleting some and keeping some under the same deletion arguments. Anyway I would vote to keep them as navigational boxes are useful for navigation. They don't try to be anything else, just simple navigation boxes.--Avala (talk) 23:52, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- They are separated because, though the rationale is the same, the notability of the organization/treaty/geographic zone each navbox is designed around isn't the same. Someone can supplement the duplicated deletion rationale with their own rationale on particular templates. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 02:21, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- NOTE, these are related to TfD nominations from the 26th, 27th, 29th of August -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 02:21, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. I realize that this has been broken out into separate nominations, but I don't think the nominator and their supporters have not done the proper legwork for the nominations. The repeated rationale of "Navboxes that only link to countries (and sometimes to other international orgs)" does not apply for many of these organizations. "G8" is pretty much just a list of the G8 countries. This template probably isn't necessary and may just sit at the bottom of a country page. However, there are also many templates here like Template:African Union that consist of much more than a list of countries and include specific topic articles like Economy of the African Union. Templates like this one don't meet the stated reason for deletion and their inclusion is "overkill."--Bkwillwm (talk) 02:07, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

- Keep or Change to a template for the children's bookprize West Nordic Council's Children and Youth Literature Prize which the West Nordic Council founded in 2002. If we change it to become a template for the literary prize it could be used on the prize winner's pages. These three countries have a very small population: Faroe Islands: 50.000, Greenland: 60.000 and Iceland: 321.000. The Faroes and Greenland are not soverign states but self-governing countries/regions in the Danish Realm (the Danish State/the Danish Kingdom). The Faroe Islands and Greenland are not fully members of the Nordic Council, only associated members. Having their own language and own culture these small nations have interests together with Iceland, whis geographically is in the same region, in the noth-west Atlantic Ocean.EileenSanda (talk) 06:38, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Duplicates Template:PlayStation substantially. Izno (talk) 00:56, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
- Keep. Template:PlayStation provides different functionality. Template:PlayStation is intended for use at the bottom of the article, out of the way of content. Meanwhile, Template:PlayStation 2 nav box is a table of contents that neatly fits below the infobox. Template:PlayStation doesn't contain the PS2-specific information in an easily readable format; one need parse through its many lines to find relevant information. Different purposes so I feel both should be kept. CaseyPenk (talk) 05:56, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Keep. While the template is no longer in use, deleting it would cause severe issues with past revisions of articles which embedded it. There's no real "need" to delete it other than the fact it is no longer being used, I don't believe that making the template space a tiny bit tidier justifies the damage to a large number of page histories. --W. D. Graham 01:30, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, we can't keep everything. Do you have some examples of historical articles that are still in usage, or that are otherwise especially important to preserve? -PC-XT+ 07:25, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Per instructions of what to delete:
- The template is redundant to a better-designed template. It is
- The template is not used, either directly or by template substitution (the latter cannot be concluded from the absence of backlinks), and has no likelihood of being used. It is not used and i won't be used

- delete, no need to keep old templates around forever just to be able to view the infobox in an old version of the article. if you want to keep some historical versions of pages, you can export them to PDF, or HTML, and save them that way. that's really the only way to guarantee that the page is as you viewed it in the past.
