Lyrics

[edit]

Ringing out from our great portals,
from our millions all around;
O'er the everlasting pillars,
where the echoing rules resound;
From discussions where consensus,
we have learnt to obey must -
Calls the spirit of our wiki,
of the 'Pedia that we trust.[1]
At thy call we shall not falter,
bold and steadfast we shall stand,
At thy will to stay or vanish,
Wikipedia, vast and grand![2]

In our body and our spirit,
in times that come and go fast;
In the promise of our future
and the glory of our past;
In our will, our work, our striving,
from anon to adminship - [3]
There's no wiki with our loving,
and no bond that can enslave.
May we ever be so loyal.
May our deeds to all proclaim
Our enduring love and service
to thy honour and thy name.[4]

In the times of our dear loving,
in our moments that we desire,
in the tragic days of blocking,
in vandalism and despair;
When the admins' bells are chiming,
when those we love depart;
Thou dost know us for thy children
and dost take us to thy heart.[5]
Loudly peals the answering chorus;
We are thine, and we shall stand,
No matter what, we will answer
to thy call, O and expand![6]

In our power, oh dear Wiki,
did all of us build of old;
So let us now all remember
To assume good faith and to be bold! -
That the heritage we're leaving
for our children yet may be;
Knowledge only of the highest
and before the whole world free.
Let us strengthen our loyalty,
More so than ever before.
For all of the worlds future,
Both now and evermore!

Notes

[edit]
  1. ^ No matter where we are, whether we are engaging in edit wars, ignoring rules or not, or participating in discussions, the spirit of the encyclopedia calls up to obey, calls us to edit, to expand, to listen and to work in good faith. This way, we can all help build a better encyclopedia.
  2. ^ We need to respect the decisions the community makes, whether to edit, to participate in discussions, even on the occasion if we are blocked or banned, we must follow that instruction to show our devotion as true Wikipedians. Be bold, and answer to the 'Pedia's calling.
  3. ^ Regardless of whether we are anonymous editors, registered, or admins, we will continue to love and work for the encyclopedia unconditionally, it used to be, it is now, and forever will be this way.
  4. ^ By contributing to Wikipedia, we, as Wikipedians, we are providing service to the encyclopedia, we love this community, we, as good faith editors, will never have allegiance with vandals, etc
  5. ^ No matter if we are enjoying our contributions, being blocked on the site, we became an admin, or a fellow Wikipedian passed away, remember this, we are children of Wikipedia, and we forever will
  6. ^ Unconditionally, answer the call of the encyclopedia, and do what you need, be it improve an article, create a new one, mark it for deletion or what. You are doing the world a favour.
