Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2011 June 3

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My first full article - feedback, suggestions and guidance, please. Also, please remove the unreviewed tag. Thanks.

It does not have any references at all; see WP:VRS, WP:FIRST.  Chzz  ►  09:04, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It also appears to have text copied word for word from http://www.mtcdallas.org/mtchurch.asp. See the 'duplication detector' HERE. Therefore it most likely violates copyright and those copied sections cannot be accepted by wikipedia. (They would have to be completely re-written)
information Note: Several related web-sites seem to share sections of text with each other and the article.

I have now after some corrections from my last feedback gone live with the Media Pro 1page. Which is one of the main DAM programs out there. How do you find the page? Do I need additional sources?

Bollerfra (talk) 07:41, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged some issues. The biggest one is the notability of the subject, which you need to prove with some reliable, third-party sources. Do any computer magazines have coverage of this program? Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:11, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for feedback or advice.

Tomo Talk (talk) 08:21, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It does not satisfy the notability requirements; see WP:VRS and WP:NBOOK. Blogs are not reliable sources.  Chzz  ►  08:58, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

LakshBala (talk) 08:51, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There are no independent reliable sources; see WP:VRS and WP:CORP. Also, it is promotional, not neutral. Please read the business FAQ.  Chzz  ►  09:02, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Stjgoc/St._John%27s_Greek_Orthodox_College

St. John's Greek Orthodox College is a co-educational school established in 1979 , the first full time Greek Orthodox school in Australia (P–12)[6] and is part of the Independent School sector. The College currently caters for 260 students from Prep to Year 12.

You seem to have a conflict of interest problem, but since secondary schools are considered notable by default that isn't much of a problem. However, you must be very careful to avoid writing like an advertisement. Write in the third-person, use a neutral point of view, and don't forget to cite some independent sources. Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:22, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is my first article. Please let me know if it is okay. I used several other articles as a reference in the creation of this.

First and foremost, you seem to have a conflict of interest. It may be better to wait for another editor to create the article. If you think it is truly notable, you should add some reliable sources to prove it. You should also add categories and wikify, but those can wait until the notability issues are addressed. Nota bene* Note that I have never reviewed an article draft before.

I recently created this article and I'm hoping to receive some feedback or assisstance in moving it forward. The article is currently tagged with a banner which states, "This page is a new unreviewed article." and I'm not completely clear as to what's next. Thank you.

Jencgaby (talk) 14:30, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged the main issues you should deal with at the article. The most important is to improve the references. Find some more reliable sources and you should be golden. However, you may consider wikifying a bit more. Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:38, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is my first article, what do you think? Is the information sufficient? I will add pictures soon and probably beef up the text a tad...

Texasvodka (talk) 16:10, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please look at my article and let me know how I could improve or change. Thank you!

Djcobra1 (talk) 18:27, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I am hoping to receive a review of the article that I have posted. It would be great if you could give me some feedback about it.

Thanks, Pnakit (talk) 19:30, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor seems to have already tagged your article with the main issues. You should attempt to find reliable sources to prove the notability of the subject, and then use them to help cite the information in the article. Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:45, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We would like you to review the formatting, content, etc. We had hoped that the product names would be listed vertically but it wouldn't display that way. Also, isn't it standard to be able to upload an image?

Thanks!

Jlird808 (talk) 21:07, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is quite a bit that needs to be done. First and foremost, you need to find some reliable, third-party sources. Basing nearly the entire article off of the company's website is not accepted and does not prove notability. You should also:
  1. Wikify the article
  2. Add categories
  3. Remove bare URLs to prevent link rot
  4. Format the article in accordance with Wikipedia's style guidelines.
I hope that helps. Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:57, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
