Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2010 November 16

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an article about American artist Hilary Brace, who was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006 and is represented in New York and Los Angeles. She creates exquisite drawings of cloudscapes (using charcoal on mylar) that look photographic and enchanting.

Please review this new article, thank you!

Hello, does this page meet your requirements? It is void of a discography.

Thank you.

Classicalexis (talk) 07:28, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I added 5 more references. What do ya think??

Hi there, I have created a wiki page for the Indian stammering association, for the benefit of around 30 million indian people who stutter. Please review it.

Jaiprakashsunda (talk) 11:03, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article has a number of problems, the most serious being notability. It does not contain any references to independent reliable coverage of the Indian Stammering Association itself: no news reports, features or articles about the organisation are cited. Please see WP:N#ORG, WP:CLUB and WP:GNG for the relevant criteria. Of the existing references in the article, a couple are to Wikipedia articles - these are not acceptable as references, and should be replaced with wikilinks to the appropriate pages. Blogspot, Yahooo groups pages and other self-published sites are likewise not reliable sources. Many of the other references do not support statements about the group that is the subject of the article, but link to general material about stammering and stuttering. This article urgently needs references that demonstrate the organisation’s notability and support the assertions in the article about its activities, otherwise it is vulnerable to deletion. I have added a lot of references to independent reliable coverage of the Indian Stammering Association. Please guide me further if anything else needs to be added or modified.

I wanted some general feedback on any improvements I could make on this article (if any :P).

Thanks Regstuff (talk) 11:54, 16 November 2010 (UTC) Looks good for posting[reply]

I want to make this page go live on Wikipedia and as indicated in the instructions, it said once I click "save page" it will be live but I am unable to search for the page to view publicly. I am wondering if the page is deleted without me knowing. Otherwise, tell me how am I to publish this piece.

Madavenineten (talk) 14:56, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, the article hasn't been deleted - it's here in the main space. The idea with many new articles is that you develop your draft in your user space first (so it doesn't get deleted by accident), then, when it's ready you use the 'Move' function (the 'Move' tab at the top) to move it into the main space where it can be searched for publicly. However, since your article is already in the main space you don't need to worry about this.
As to the actual article, I do think you need to be careful with the article's tone and neutrality. With articles like this it's easy to make it sound like just a CV or advertisement for the person, but this is not encouraged here. Instead, Wikipedia articles are supposed to be neutral in tone. I think you just need to take another look at the article and maybe make some improvements if you can. I also think you need to perhaps try and find some more web-based references, to make the references for the article (overall) more reliable. Thanks! Biography of Rob Stone, founder The Fader magazine. Thanks for the feedback!

Mediaevent (talk) 16:27, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see at the top of your article draft that there's a disambiguation tag. Are you planning to write a separate disambiguation page or...? I think the article perhaps needs to be expanded, an infobox added, names added to the references (contact me if you need any help with that), and finally maybe some more references, as it does seem to be lacking. Hope this is useful! Chevymontecarlo 08:07, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is an enriched bio of mechanical engineer Paul Wright with more (and better) references and a good ScienceNews article establishing notability. I think this is ready for posting, but would appreciate advice. Many thanks.

Gordyslack (talk) 17:28, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed the categories but I do think you need to add sections, just to make the article more easier to read. I also think that the external links you have in the main part of the article need to be perhaps moved to a separate section, rather than just incorporated into the main body of the article. Finally, the last suggestion I have for improvement is that you might want to add infobox. Chevymontecarlo 08:03, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your review!

A few suggestions:
  • An infobox would be a nice addition.
  • Consider adding some more useful names to the references, like this:
<ref>[http://www.example.com|Reference name goes here!]</ref>

I hope my suggestions are useful, and good luck with your article! Chevymontecarlo 07:58, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Many different Sample concepts exist such as Sample (statistics) and Sample (signal) and Sample (material)
This new article adds Sample (graphics) to this collection of concepts. Please provide feedback for this article:
