[edit]Biology: Looking for a Good Overview Book on Population Dynamics
[edit]I'm interested in studying population dynamics. How a new mutation (e.g., a mutation that facilitates human language) spreads through a population. The wikipedia article Population dynamics is a good introduction. Often what I'll do is go to the article and then find a reference that looks like a good overview book or article. But in this case, and perhaps I'm missing something, most of the references seem fairly specific (e.g., not population dynamics in general or in human hunter gatherers which is what I'm interested in but in Brachiopods). I also looked for books on Amazon. I found a few but none of them stand out as really good ones, they don't have many reviews or quotes from leading biologists on the cover. The ones I found are: A Primer on Population Dynamics (of all of them this looks the best) and Principles of Population Dynamics and Delay Differential Equations: With Applications in Population Dynamics I'm not afraid of complex math such as Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Game Theory, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. --MadScientistX11 (talk) 16:43, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- The "References" section is supposed to be specific references to support stated facts. For more general info, I suggest you look at other sections, such as "See also", "Further reading", and "External links". In the case of the "See also" links, you can then look at the corresponding sections at the bottom of each of those articles, etc. You might also look at the gene flow article.
