Indexing of a wikipedia page on search engines?

[edit]

Hi, I didn't really know where to put this. I recently created Porsche 963, and its pageviews has already almost surpassed 500 in the first two days, meaning there must be significant interest. I'm just wondering though, how come it's not being indexed by search engines such as Google? Is it simply because it's too new? Thanks X-750 Rust In Peace... Polaris 10:30, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Partly, articles newer than 90 days need to be WP:patrolled and not marked with the NOINDEX magic word to report to search engines that they can be indexed. (Whether they are indexed is ultimately up to the search engine in either case.) See Wikipedia:Controlling search engine indexing for details. Nil Einne (talk) 10:45, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers mate. Would you mind pointing a patroller my way. I'd love to get the article up & running... X-750 Rust In Peace... Polaris 12:50, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, NPPs are busy people and while I congratulate you on your work, I see no reason why it's more important than the large number of other articles in the queue. Nil Einne (talk) 20:47, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Nil Einne. X-750 Rust In Peace... Polaris 21:48, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
For me, a Bing search for Porsche 963 yields a preview of the Wikipedia article in a sidebar.  Card Zero  (talk) 10:57, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah... a preview of the Wikipedia article of the Porsche 964. X-750 Rust In Peace... Polaris 12:51, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It was the right article three hours ago (I remember the opening words), and now it's changed to the 964 one. Peculiar. Oh, maybe I was looking at Duckduckgo (which relies mainly on Bing for results), the 963 article appears in the sidebar there. And now Bing has stopped showing me any sidebar results at all. Perhaps their AI is tracking me, despite my best efforts to avoid it, and has decided I'm not likely to buy a Porsche. Mind you, the last result on the first page is es:Porsche 963 (which has different information from the en version).  Card Zero  (talk) 13:57, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's rather classist of the search engine, isn't it? Appreciate your help. X-750 Rust In Peace... Polaris 21:46, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
