[edit]Blu-ray: extra bonus features
[edit]How come most Blu-Rays have more extras/bonus features (e.g. deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes featurttes) than DVDs? 86.129.30.147 (talk) 20:58, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- Blu-Ray has greater maximum storage capacity (50 GB) compared to DVD (8 GB); i.e. more room for more stuff. --2603:6081:1C00:1187:69EB:2C62:8BCD:CD69 (talk) 21:35, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- The apparently optimal marketing name of 405nm-Ray was very counterproductive for exciting nerds, making us guess way low on capacity. Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 22:16, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- Also, many of them were produced more recently. I've got DVD's from 20 years ago which have pretty much nada for extras. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 05:06, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- DVDs got extra features to get you to buy the DVD when you already owned the VHS. Bluerays have more extra features to get you to buy the blueray after you already bought the DVD (and previously the VHS). I've seen on digital where some movies have even more extra features to get you to buy the digital version after you already bought the blueray (and the DVD and the VHS). That doesn't mean that the new features are worth anything. Some are complete garbage. Example: The digital version of the Rocky Horror Picture Show contains a bonus documentary. But, the sound and video of the documentary are not synced. The video is about 45 minutes long. The audo is about 30 minutes long. So, it is very difficult to watch. 97.82.165.112 (talk) 19:32, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- Or even to get you to buy a DVD when you already own an older version of the DVD. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 21:12, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- What if you'd rather see Inception in eyeball-harassing 36-bit 8K Hyper HD? Will it fit on one disc before the ultraviolet disc comes out? Sagittarian Milky Way (talk) 03:19, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
