[edit]I got banned from Stack Overflow, what can I do?
[edit]I just found out I have got banned from Stack Overflow for asking too many stupid questions. Here is Stack Overflow's explanation of this.
What can I do about this? It tells me to "review my questions, especially those which have got negative feedback". All my questions which got negative feedback have already been deleted. Most have a feedback rating of zero. It also tells me deleting my stupid questions won't help.
Do I really have to wait half a year before I get a chance to ask a new question? Stack Overflow is a great aid in my job.
I have only got banned from the main Stack Overflow site. I haven't got banned from any other site on the Stack Exchange. JIP | Talk 16:03, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- It reads like the answer is to try again in 6 months. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 17:30, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- One thing you obviously can do is make a new account (preferably with a different browser and IP). Now, whether you may and should, considering your account still works on other sites... Elephas X. Maximus (talk) 01:06, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that advising someone to evade a block or ban is a very ethical thing to do. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 03:35, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- And sounds somehow nasty, as cheating will not improve for itself JIP's ability to formulate acceptable questions so it will only worsen her position as they will catch her wery soon and throw her out for all and forever. 2003:F5:6F0D:1A00:A0F2:DC85:E023:80A3 (talk) 20:35, 22 February 2021 (UTC) Marco PB
- Actually, it's "him" and "his". I'm male. JIP | Talk 02:14, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

- Apparently, a blocked user can still improve their remaining questions with a low score, such as score 0. There are no stupid questions, but there are stupid ways of formulating a question. To start, make sure that all question titles are a grammatically valid English question sentence, ending on a question mark. Do you understand why they received low scores? --Lambiam 07:07, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- This is about the content of the questions, not about the form. I am quite good at writing grammatically correct English, even if I don't pronounce it very well. But my questions on Stack Overflow were in pretty much grammatically correct English. But the point is, there were some that were essentially duplicates of already answered questions or that were off topic. And no, I am not going to make a fake account just to evade my ban. For one thing, that would be too much work. For another, Stack Overflow might catch on and reinforce my ban further. For a third thing, I don't like this idea of cheating in the first place. - JIP can you link some of these questions you asked? StackOverflow is basically Wikipedia-on-overdrive in terms of being difficult for newbies to contribute constructively, so it's understandable that you got banned (sadly), but maybe I can give you some tips for better-asking in the future. - I think I can, but not now. It's way past my bedtime, I'll do it sometime later. JIP | Talk 03:16, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- Here is a link to my Stack Overflow profile. It should contain a list of my questions that are still present. The deleted ones are probably visible only to me and Stack Overflow administrators. JIP | Talk 23:08, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
