[edit]Anime.
[edit]What is anime?182.64.182.170 (talk) 09:57, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
- Anime (pronounced "anna-may"). SinisterLefty (talk) 10:02, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
- I question your proffered punctuation, SinisterLefty. Although moving in associated (SFF Fandom) circles, I've never heard it pronounced other than "annie-may" or "annuh-may", the latter corresponding to the IPA rendering of /ˈænəˌmeɪ/ given in the article. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.122.177.55 (talk) 14:44, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
- At least in my area, "anna" is pronounced "annuh". How do you pronounce "anna" ? As "ann-aye" ? SinisterLefty (talk) 14:48, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
- In mine (Southern Britain) the second vowel is pronounced almost identically to the first, though slightly shorter. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.122.177.55 (talk) 17:39, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- As with the Beatles cover of "Anna", and countless other usages. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 16:22, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

- Perhaps the OP was asking about the historical word "anime" meaning an item of armour, a cuirass or breastplate, in which case it's pronounced /æˈniːm/ (A NEEM), but this is unlikely because that term is not in current usage. Dbfirs 07:10, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- Although you may need to brace yourself before viewing some anime. SinisterLefty (talk) 03:14, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
