[edit]Guts in the US
[edit]Does America have any Korean shamans that perform guts? ατόνος (talk) 21:55, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- Guts are song and dance rites performed by Korean shamans, involving offerings and sacrifices to gods and ancestors. Here is an Illustrated article about a gut in South Korea. A New York Times article reports that "Under the pro-American military governments of the 1970s, there were shamans [in South Korea] who took General Douglas MacArthur as their deity. When MacArthur's spirit possessed them, they donned sunglasses, puffed on a pipe and uttered sounds that some clients took for English." I have not traced any gut performances in America.
