[edit]Cropping photos
[edit]Is there a way to show only a portion of a picture, in order to emphasize something by effectively "zooming in" on it? Or would I have to upload a cropped version as a separate file? Does anyone know how, or know if I should ask on another page? Thank you. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 19:25, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
- I would suggest asking this question on the Computing desk—and mentioning what sort of device you want to do this on! --76.69.46.228 (talk) 20:38, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
- I should have said that I want to do this on a picture that already exists on Commons, for use within an article. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 21:32, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
- I've searched for exactly that feature in 2011 or 2012 and I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist (but it's hard to be 100% sure). Also, it's common practice on Commons to re-upload cropped versions. Perhaps you could try the help-desk, some of the people there know lots of details about the wiki software. Jahoe (talk) 08:01, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

- Awesome. I think that's what I need. I'll give it a try... And they both work! Thank you! ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 15:09, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
