[edit]Is there a good website where people can type their opinions online including about parenting, goverement, world news, ect?
[edit](OP didn't provide any body text - question is in section title)
- Three different approaches are http://answers.yahoo.com/ and http://www.wordpress.com/ and http://www.twitter.com/
- Yahoo Answers, in theory, requests you only to post an opinion when someone else asks for your opinion, but since it has such a heavy volume of questions, there's always someone asking for your opinion. It also requests that you provide references, so it's not solely asking for opinions - though many seem to ignore that. Wordpress is one of many blogging sites where you can post whatever opinions you like. And finally, Twitter is Twitter, and can be used for posting much much shorter, timelier opinions or commentary on current events (or for reposting other people's similar opinions). --Demiurge1000 (talk) 03:25, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- Reddit - the more "serious" (I'm using that term loosely here) opinions/discussions are almost always in a smaller subreddit. (The top and front pages are for jokes and karma whoring :))Royor (talk) 06:17, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- You could search for a forum on each topic, or they do generalised discussion forums too http://www.big-boards.com/ 213.104.128.16 (talk) 08:45, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- Fark.com is a popular place to discuss pretty much anything, although mostly related to news. WegianWarrior (talk) 08:54, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- If you're in the UK, Speaker's Chair has recently set up for this very purpose. --TammyMoet (talk) 12:32, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- You can join the comment pages of the UK Guardian's website [1]. --Viennese Waltz 12:45, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Removing yellowing on canvas doll sandals?
[edit]I know I'd better be off asking this on a doll collector's site, but does anyone have a clue on how to remove, or at least minimise, the yellowing and stains off a pair of canvas sandals that came with my Kit Kittredge doll? There's this upholstery cleaner, but idk if it would be too much or too harsh for the fabric. Blake Gripling (talk) 07:50, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- I was once advised by the Embroiderers Guild to use a solution of soapwort on a very old and fragile fabric. Another trick is soft white bread - rub the crumb on it and see if the dirt comes off onto the bread. --TammyMoet (talk) 11:43, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- I have run into the problem that the bread rubs off onto what's being cleansed. Canned air may or may not help with the bread. μηδείς (talk) 16:02, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- powdered white chalk might work. it's used for similar things, including whitening yellowed dogs, oddly enough; in fact i bought it from a company that sold dog show stuff, despite it's being banned for use in dog shows. another possibility might be cornstarch, (also sold for "dry shampoo" for dogs, etc.) which has similar ability to absorb or dislodge stains, but won't have the same ability to leave white coloration behind. Gzuckier (talk) 06:43, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- Do you know what the material is ? If it's 100% cotton, then some type of laundry oxidizer might work, like a very dilute bleach solution. There are also non-bleach oxidizers. StuRat (talk) 14:52, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure, but I might give that oxidizer thing a try. Blake Gripling (talk) 13:13, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
- OK, try a very dilute solution, at first. If that doesn't work, increase the concentration until it does. This will hopefully allow you to find the concentration which will whiten them, without damage. And, if using bleach, be sure to be in a well ventilated area and leave the area while it's soaking. - The content posted anonymously in the Cashplus article on the 2nd was unsourced - Wikipedia content has to be supported by reliable sources, so I have removed it. I can't find any mention in any reliable source like newspapers about any issue Cashplus may be having. In general Wikipedia is a poor place to look for up-to-date information about fast moving events, as of necessity we follow reliable sources, so there's inevitably a delay, and there must never be content that's here that can't be found elsewhere. -- Finlay McWalterჷTalk 12:01, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
