Loanwords in Khalkha Mongolian

[edit]

In Khalkha Mongolian, when a Russian or global-through-Russian loanword has Cyrillic е after a consonant – like Сергей or Америк – is it pronounced /je/ like native е (Syergyey, Amyerik), or /e/ like native э (Sergey, Amerik)? I've been hunting for audio tokens but I'm not well-enough attuned to the language to tell for sure. Lazar Taxon (talk) 21:27, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
