Counties of Sun Belt and Bible Belt

[edit]

Is there a or any website that defines or fits which counties in the US that are part of the Bible Belt and which counties that are part of the Sun Belt? the maps are somewhat okay but I need more to know. Donmust90 Donmust90 (talk) 00:04, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there's any precise definition of either term, so I would take any such list with a grain of salt. I can't think of any reason it would break down by counties. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if someone has undertaken to make such a list, but I wouldn't know where to find it any better than you. --Trovatore (talk) 00:21, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The article Bible Belt lists which states are included, so you can go to each state and find a list of counties. Similar for Sun Belt. Some states are there entirely, and others are partial such as California, so you would need to look at the list of California counties south of Sacramento to get your list. I still think it's a fool's errand to try to pin the borders of these "belts" down in any precise way. They're sort of inherently fuzzy concepts.
That said, the OP may be interested in this county-by-county map, which breaks down counties according to percentage of Baptists. That was apparently the original basis for the map shown at Bible Belt. --Trovatore (talk) 00:51, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
