[edit]Most important military historian today?
[edit]Who is the military historian considered by experts to be the most important of the present time?--2A02:908:422:9760:C56:ED88:2692:22FB (talk) 22:54, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
- I don't know what professional historians think, but I always found John Keegan to be a very clear writer, and his New York Times obituary said that he was "widely considered to be the pre-eminent military historian of his era". Of course he died in 2012... AnonMoos (talk) 09:00, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
- List_of_prizes_known_as_the_Nobel_or_the_highest_honors_of_a_field suggests top historians might be recognized with a one of the Heineken Prizes. You might look through that list of winners to see if it’s been given to a military historian.70.67.193.176 (talk) 16:25, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
- Geoffrey Parker (historian) is the most recent such winner to be a military historian. He's also won the Samuel Eliot Morison Prize, which is specifically awarded to military historians. That might give another list of candidates for important currently working military historians. --Jayron32 16:41, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
