Driving vs Covid-19 lockdown

[edit]
Thanks, wasn't looking for medical or legal advice, but just trying to figure out if I was overlooking something common-sensically dumb. 2601:648:8202:96B0:386A:A40C:EBB1:ACC0 (talk) 19:08, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm in California under shelter in place. I haven't driven my car in a few weeks and am thinking I should take it for a spin to keep the battery charged and circulate the fluids etc. I also will have to go shopping in the next few days (this is allowed) so I want to cruise past the store to see if it looks crowded. Does anyone know of any issues with this? They say it is ok to walk outside for exercise, so driving a car doesn't seem to risk more exposure. I've been staying inside though. Thanks. 2601:648:8202:96B0:386A:A40C:EBB1:ACC0 (talk) 01:48, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If your car is parked outside, wipe the door handles and any other outside parts you may touch with a disinfectant before you touch them. (Think of the outside of the car as being scorching hot, and the disinfectant as a coolant.)  --Lambiam 09:42, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Local TV news had a segment recently advising to clean anything in or on your car that you frequently touch. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots21:13, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
