[edit]United System Military
[edit]Hi everyone! In the 1997 movie Alien Resurrection a new entity appears calling itself the United System Military (USM), is it supposed to be a futuristic UNO type agency? What do you think? Thank you for your answers.--176.87.38.15 (talk) 00:04, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- The USM takes up the role of the earlier United States Colonial Marine corps. Lacking authoritative sources, we can only speculate why the scriptwriters or their bosses chose to replace the USCM by the USM. The Alien universe was de facto controlled by Weyland–Yutani Corp., and I find it is easier to imagine the USM as being the Walmart-controlled continuation of the UCSM after Walmart absorbed Weyland–Yutan. --Lambiam 08:42, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- The time scales on the Alien franchise are considerably expanded over normal human lifespans, Alien Resurrection takes place 200 years after the events of Aliens/Alien3, which take place 57 years after the events of Alien. Presumably, the political landscape over the 200 years between Alien3 and Alien Resurrection had changed similarly to how much it would change over any 200 year period of Earth's history, and organizations/states/etc. would change over that time, except for of course the all-powerful Weyland–Yutani Corp. --Jayron32 14:33, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
