An 80s film about an artist framed for murder

[edit]

For years I've been trying to find the name of a film I watched in the late 80s/early 90s about an artist (a painter, with dark bouffy hair IIRC) who was being framed for murder.

I think it was an erotic thriller type of film and the part I particularly remember was he spent the night with a woman, then in the morning he awoke to find she'd been bludgeoned to death with a huge picture frame that had been smashed over her.

It's an American film that was probably made in the late 80s based on when I watched it (I was far too young to be watching such things!)

Does this ring a bell with anyone? It's obviously not that important but it's one of those irritating little things and my Google-fu hasn't found anything.

Do you recall any of the actors? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots11:28, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
None at all, that's literally all I can remember. I don't think it was anyone very famous. Princess Persnickety (talk) 16:24, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Still Life: The Fine Art of Murder sort of fits, though it's from 1990, and the protagonist is actually a musician, but it looks like he's getting framed, and the serial killer appears to be a visual artist from what I gathered. And Jason Gedrick does have dark bouffy-ish hair. ---Sluzzelin talk 11:43, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Sluzzelin: That looks very promising! The photo is exactly the image I remember. I don't know how you found it but thank you :) I will have to see if I can find somewhere to watch it to see how it ends Princess Persnickety (talk) 16:24, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
