[edit]Help IDing Two Movies
[edit]Hello, I'm looking for help IDing two films, both were released before 2008.
The first is a crime/detective film. One of the early scenes shows a police department being brought lunch at their desks, because they are working on a crime and they (or at least their bosses) don't want them to pause.
The second is about a man released from prison. The three scenes I remember is him facing a parole board early on, him standing outside a chaotic club-type environment, and finally towards the end a woman he's befriended asks him to leave town. She tells him something like "I give you the world, you can live anyplace but here." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.134.147.161 (talk) 04:49, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- The identical query has been repeated on 9th December below, where it is suggested that any replies are made. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.217.209.178 (talk) 07:18, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
Liv Tyler - Super Bowl LIV
[edit]Has anyone commented about Super Bowl LIV's coincidence with Liv Tyler's famous given name? Has anyone suggested a special honor or at least an appearance for her at half-time? Elizium23 (talk) 07:02, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Does she spell her name in all caps? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 07:38, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- She can do anything she wants, she's Arwen!!! 70.162.235.225 (talk) 20:18, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
She kicked Sauron's butt, so Roger Goodell should be no problem.Oops, wrong character. Clarityfiend (talk) 08:33, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- "Can do" and "Does do" are not necessarily the same thing. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 01:11, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- Why not Liv Ullmann? Maybe she's available? --Jayron32 15:27, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- They could both do it. Liv and let Liv (or in this case, let Liv and Liv), I always say. Clarityfiend (talk) 20:38, 9 December 2019 (UTC)

Christmas caroling
[edit]Does Wikipedia have anything like an article or scholarship on the practice of Christmas caroling? I could not find an article by the expected names. It seems this is a unique practice for the Christmas season, isn't there any Wikipedia information on it? (If not, my question is as follows: Do Christmas carolers routinely accept tips or donations beyond some complimentary cookies and cocoa? When I went caroling, some of the residents felt kind of ... obliged, and therefore uncomfortable, like we were glorified beggars.) Elizium23 (talk) 07:39, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Have you read Christmas carol? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 07:41, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Yes sir. As far as I can tell, it contains a couple photographs of carolers, and a paragraph on the 14th-century practice of wassailers, and that's it. Elizium23 (talk) 07:44, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Let me clarify that by "the practice of Christmas caroling" I am referring to what happens in the United States, whereby groups of volunteers or pros go house-to-house, knock on the door, and serenade the residents with a song or two, then go down the street for more. They usually wind up at someone's home for conversation and cocoa afterwards. Elizium23 (talk) 07:45, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- In the UK the carol singers are usually collecting for charity, not begging, though we do get the occasional off-key teenagers who one pays to simply go away.--Shantavira|feed me 10:05, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Christmastide: Its History, Festivities, and Carols by William Sandys has some information. Alansplodge (talk) 18:06, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- I guess so, OK, thanks. Is there any reason why Wikipedia doesn't seem to cover this widespread contemporary practice at all? Elizium23 (talk) 13:52, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- Because no one has added it yet. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 14:57, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Sounds like a really interesting article, though; re: origins, traditions & customs, etc. Maineartists (talk) 14:22, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- The Christmas Carol article already has a lot of that, but it could be expanded. By you, or by Elizium, or maybe by a daughter of Elyzium, who could write about all those odes to Joy to the World. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 15:16, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
