[edit]Width of ice hockey goal posts
[edit]Pretty self-explanatory the title really. So? :) 141.136.214.192 (talk) 02:56, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- 72 inches / 183 cm from the inner edges of the posts. Height to the inside of the top crossbar is 48 inches / 122 cm. → Michael J Ⓣ Ⓒ Ⓜ 03:07, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- If you're asking literally what the "width" (i.e. diameter) of a goal post is, the answer is that it's the same as the width of the goal line, typically 2 inches. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 03:13, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, the NHL rulebook specifies that the posts shall be 2⅜″ diameter. → Michael J Ⓣ Ⓒ Ⓜ 03:38, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- I should have said "about". It's still unclear exactly what the OP was asking, but between the various responses, it would seem to be covered. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 06:46, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- Here's a diagram from the NHL rules which further explains it.[1] The inside dimension is 2 inches, the outside dimension is 2 3/8 inches, as you said. The goal line itself is 2 inches wide. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 07:01, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

Sweet, thank you all so much. I was wondering about the width (instead of diameter, shame on me) of one single post or crossbar. 141.136.214.192 (talk) 12:11, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- Good deal. In the case of a piece of pipe, width and outside diameter would be the same thing. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 03:05, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
