Will i am

[edit]

What instrumentals does Will i am play? --Balforthason (talk) 09:19, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How do you know he plays any? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots13:14, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe OP is familiar with the artist? Maybe they looked at the infobox in the linked article? Did you even click before you questioned the premise? Please don't WP:BITE, and attempt to WP:AGF. Please try to be constructive when you post here. SemanticMantis (talk)
According to the article you linked, he plays at least keyboards, bass guitar, clavinet, Fender Rhodes, drums, piano, and moog bass. He may well play more, that's all we have record of in our article. I know he plays acoustic guitar, because here's a clip of him playing [1]. Here's an interview where he says that he uses computers as an instrument [2]. Many people would consider the turntables an instrument, and Will.I.Am is also listed as a DJ. I assumed in my previous response that you meant "instruments." If you did indeed mean "instrumentals" in the sense of instrumental music (i.e. without lyrics), then he does that too. I can't find complete list, but here's an example [3]. SemanticMantis (talk) 15:56, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It actually has an "instruments" section in the infobox. Seems like the OP didn't read any further into the article than I did. So the both of us got it wrong. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots18:01, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edge of Tomorrow (film)

[edit]

I see the movie for the first time today.

This movie mimics the logic of a video game. You are killed and then you become more experienced in the next life. Let's say Tom Cruise a videon game player. The moment he finds himself reborn, why didn't he expect that he has only three lives?

In the movie, Tom Cruise took his privilege to experiment as granted. In a real video game if you have only one coin, you don't want to waste any of your life because you can only afford to die twice. Maybe Tome Cruise would do his best to kill as many aliens on the third try. Maybe he would look for a bonus giver that upgrades him or give him an extra life.

It seems, this movie does not follow the video game logic very closely.

Then how does Emily Blunt know that she has lost the power?

Imagine you have the ability to memorize your previous life and you have used it for 300 times. Then you lose the power and when the day is set back, you would have forgotten that you have lost it. You have the memories of lives 1 to 300 and you don't remember anything after life 301. So you probably still believe that you can keep the memory. You still experiment. You just do not bring home your learnings.

Now, if Tom Cruise gets the power by bathing in an alpha alien's blood, why could't he kill the alpha the next time, collect its blood and spray it on everyone in front of him and let them be killed before committing suicide. Then in the next life, he would have more friends in the know. Repeat it for a few times, he would have an army from the grave ..... -- Toytoy (talk) 17:00, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it's fiction so they can do as they please, but note that they may be combining aspects of the player and character into one. The player, in a real game, presumably remembers everything. Other movies that incorporated video game logic include the much earlier Tron and more recent Matrix (franchise). StuRat (talk) 17:21, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The concept of limited lives in video games is considerably outdated, it fell out of favor not long after home consoles became more popular than penny arcades. As you note, when you can just start anohter game without paying a coin for more lives, the whole point of "lives" becomes obsolete. I believe Emily Blunt said it was just a "feeling", that she "knew" inside that she lost the power. Vespine (talk) 04:16, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there's usually some penalty to dying, like having to restart that level at the beginning. StuRat (talk) 18:32, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
