[edit]Information Please (how to sell a TV program concept)
[edit]I have an idea for a new television show. Can you please tell me who I can contact and how I can contact them. Thank you, Respectfully, Robert A. Warner — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.202.144.54 (talk) 19:12, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- I added to your title to make it useful. StuRat (talk) 01:24, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- You would contact each TV studio, although your chances aren't good of being heard, unless you have a track record behind you. StuRat (talk) 01:24, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Breaking into TV is very difficult. If you are a (screen)writer, the usual advice is get yourself an agent first. The agent should know all the right people to contact to make sure your idea is heard. You will then need to pitch your idea to the people you agent has arranged for you to meet. You probably need something more than just a vague idea in your head. Astronaut (talk) 15:29, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- It's not what you know it's who you know. Basically, you want to find someone who is in a position to help get your idea in front of eyes that make a decision. Networking is a highly under rated skill, but those that have a grasp of it can locate and befriend such individuals as contacts for such ideas. Many times you can simply call up a production company and they will give you an address to send your script, but they land in huge piles that are sorted through over a great deal of time and reading. In order to get a red light you need to sell your product. You are the pitchman and if you cannot sell your idea you face a brick wall. Be persistent but polite and patient. Also...make a lot of copies as you'll need to send your script or outline to a lot of people.--Mark Miller (talk) 13:48, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Aphrodisiac song
[edit]I'm trying to remember a song from (I think) the 1990s. I assumed it was called 'Aphrodisiac' because that word, repeated, is the only lyric I can recall. But searching YouTube, etc. doesn't bring anything up. I have a feeling it was spelt funny, like 'Afrodiziac' or something, which also makes it harder to search for. It's not the one by Eleftheria Eleftheriou and it's not the one by Bow Wow Wow and it's not the one by Bran Van 3000 and it's not the one by Brandy Norwood. It's got a very laid back, soulful, head-nodding groove and a (female?) voice repeats the phrase "aphrodisiac" over the beat, and I'm pretty sure there's not much more to it. No rapping or other verses. It was the kind of thing you would have heard played in the 'chill out room' of a house music club around the mid 1990s. I think. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.208.175.92 (talk) 20:35, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I remember it very well--it was the time of C+C Music Factory and Technotronic and the Prodigy, and this was a nice mellow club song exactly like you describe it. I'm racking my brain trying to come up with it! Drmies (talk) 03:47, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- There's a bunch of possibilities here [1]. I wouldn't mind betting it's the one by Mai Tai, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be on youtube. --Viennese Waltz 15:45, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- No, that's not the one (you can listen to it here), but I'm checking your list--thanks, Drmies (talk) 17:29, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Think I've found it... [[2]] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.208.175.92 (talk) 21:25, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Excellent, yes! I remember it a bit differently, but this is probably some remix or so. And you were right about the weird spelling. Well done: you have answered your own question, and the reward for that is that Baseball Bugs will record your greeting on your answering machine. Drmies (talk) 03:04, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- For anyone who can't access YouTube, the spelling is "Afro Dizzi Act", and the group is Cry Sisco! (no article). Tevildo (talk) 08:59, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
