[edit]New York Yankees
[edit]--Jessica A Bruno 18:09, 21 May 2011 (UTC) Why are The New York Yankees a brand name just as they are a team or whatever it is called?
Have been wondering about this for awhile now, but never asked about it. Mean both online/offline. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mybodymyself (talk • contribs) 01:20, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- Huh? Is there a musical band named the New York Yankees? There have been several sports teams with the name, the baseball team which began using the name in 1913 and at least 4-5 different American football teams from the 1920s-1940s. I know of no other use of the name. If you want to know about where the team comes from and how they got their name, History of the New York Yankees explains its origins. --Jayron32 01:55, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe the OP meant brand name? Dismas|(talk) 02:36, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- If that is the case, the OP would like to research the marketing strategies of the New York Yankees. I typed "New York Yankees Marketing" into google, and got some promising hits that may help research that aspect of their business. See [1] --Jayron32 02:41, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

- Sorry, for the confusion that I caused before with the spelling. Don't worry I corrected it now.
- See our article brand. Any well-known product name is considered a "brand", and most everybody considers that well-known professional sports teams' names are also "brands". Marketing people will also irritate many people by insisting that names of things like popular bands or individual celebrities are "brands" of their own; certainly they have some of the attributes of a brand, even if they're an anti-corporate, anti-consumer-culture, anti-brand band like Rage Against The Machine. Another Film title Please?
[edit]Hi Guys/Geniuses,
I saw a film about an Irish Immigrant (to New York, I think). He works as a prize fighter and he is the best because he fights scientifically instead of just standing there and trading punches. He gets a girl and they join the land grab rush in the West.
I was fairly sure that the guy was played by Leonardo Di Caprio but I can't see the film in his filmography. It may be a similar type of actor (young, handsome, tough, well known).
Any hints please?

You are right - it was Tom Cruise in Far and Away - Thanks Kainaw!! Gurumaister (talk) 14:25, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
Goblin Deluxe download bitrate?
[edit]Hi, I was wondering if anyone who bought the deluxe edition of Goblin by Tyler, the Creator from oddfuture.com could tell me what format and bitrate the files are? The page doesn't say, and it's available cheaper elsewhere so I'd like to know if there's a difference. wiki page for a famous person NOAH BECKER
[edit]I am new to this site and would like created a wiki page for a famous person. His name is Noah Becker and is the son of Boris Becker(ex world number 1 tennis player)Boris_Beckerhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boris_Becker and Barbara Becker( famous German actress) I would be nice if you could be to further assistance in this process. Thank you for your help Sincerely, Giunior Ghedina —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gghedina (talk • contribs) 19:37, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- Noah don't think he meets our notability guidelines, specifically WP:NOTINHERITED. The kid's only 17(?)[2] and all descriptions of him that I've seen prominently refer to him as Boris's son, not a good sign. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:41, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Help identify this Sudoku game for the Nintendo DS
[edit]Aloha, RefDeskians! I need some assistance in identifying THIS Sudoku game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6b11w_yhgc -- I used to have it, and it was far better than Sudoku Gridmaster, which I just bought and was disappointed by. Can you assist? Thanks :D Foofish (talk) 19:48, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- That looks like the Sudoku game that comes with Brain Age. APL (talk) 23:15, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- I concur with APL ... both Brain Age and Brain Age 2 include sudoku puzzles, by the way. --McDoobAU93 06:16, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Does anyone here have the movie School Ties on VHS?
[edit]This is a long shot, but does anyone here have the movie School Ties on VHS? The plot summary in the article sounds like something from the back of a VHS box, but I'm not entirely sure. If anyone has the movie, would you go grab it and compare the summary on the back of the box and compare it to School Ties#Plot? Thanks! (I wasn't sure where to post this, it's kind of a mashup of something for Help Desk, a copyright violations noticeboard and here, but I figured I was more likely to find someone on here who has the VHS.)
Oh, and if you reply here would you please and leave this: {{tb|Wikipedia:Reference desk/Entertainment|Does anyone here have the movie School Ties on VHS?}}
on my talkpage? Thanks! — Preceding signed comment added by Cymru.lass (talk • contribs) 20:26, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
