[edit]some mystery songs
[edit]Some songs that I thought of but haven't heard in a while have titles that evade me.
- A popular hard rock song with the lyric "I'm holding on/I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinkin'..."
- An easier rock song with the lyric "It's just you and me, and all of the people..."
- Another odd rock piece with something about a chameleon lying in the sun.
- A popular song with the chorus "Looking at you through the glass/Don't know how much time has past..."
- and an alternative song with the chorus "If I traded it all away...for one thing".
They might be obvious, but I don't know how I'm supposed to search for a song title on google with just lyrics like that. Thnx. 75.73.225.224 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 00:15, 29 November 2010 (UTC).
- To search for the songs on google, try breaking the lyrics into smaller chunks and keeping quotes around those. For instance (from your first example), if you search for: '"I'm holding on" "I'm six feet" lyrics' google suggests that you're looking for One Last Breath by the group Creed. 24.91.31.112 (talk) 01:00, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
2. You and Me by Lifehouse
3. Run Runaway by Slade
4. Through Glass by Stone Sour
5. One Thing by Finger Eleven. 24.189.87.160 (talk) 02:22, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Debussy's Water Music
[edit]In high school we were taught that Claude Deussy composed an entire Suite of what was called "Water Music." I hae been able to track this music down without success. Aside from his "Reflections on The Water" I have been unable to locate anything even close. It has been my understanding that the featured instrument was the flute as he composed for flute. I would like to get a CD if possible. This is not homework. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.174.209.146 (talk) 03:24, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Are you sure it was Debussy? Both Handel and Telemann had water music suites. Maybe it was one of these? --Jayron32 05:23, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Are you thinking of La mer (Debussy) ? meltBanana 14:00, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune opens with a famous flute solo, but it isn't about water and isn't a suite. I presume you've looked at List of compositions by Claude Debussy. AndrewWTaylor (talk) 14:26, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

It's easy to confuse things school teachers tell you. I remember giving an answer in an aural test, where I incorrectly identified the opening of Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik as "Rimsky-Korsakov's [sic] The Swan [sic]". It is not remotely swan-like music, and The Swan in any case is from Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns. To me, all hyphenated composers must have been the same people. Boy, what a goof-up I was then. I've since improved. -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 19:15, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- That reminds me of when I briefly thought there was a composer called Moussorgsky-Ravel, after seeing something about Pictures at an Exhibition, and having heard of Rimsky-Korsakov recently too. AndrewWTaylor (talk) 12:09, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Beatles song
[edit]I recently heard a song on the radio and could only pick out these two phrases from the lyrics: "All the other kids..." and "round and round". It sounded like a Beatles song, though I am not sure. Does anyone know the song? Thanks. --119.155.2.24 (talk) 08:26, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Those lyrics are in Eminem's "As The World Turns". Not easy to confuse with a Beatles song though. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:21, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
That's as far from the one I heard as can be. It sounded old and was no rap song or anything.--119.155.2.24 (talk) 09:34, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- How about "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People - here? Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:44, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
YES! Thats the one! The "round and round" is actually run and run. And the part where they sing it sounds like The Beatles. Or is it just to me? Thanks! --119.155.118.116 (talk) 12:59, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- No problem. Thanks to you for letting me discover a good new song! Ghmyrtle (talk) 16:38, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Which Fleetwood Mac LP?
[edit]From which album does their cover of blues song Ooh Baby derive? I can remember hearing the song at parties back in 1974, so it had to be from an LP released prior to that year. Thank you.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 08:50, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Fleetwood Mac in Chicago/Blues Jam in Chicago, Vols. 1–2. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:54, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Perfect! Thank you Ghmyrtle.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 09:13, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- By the way, it took me no more than 15 seconds to find that info by quickly looking through the list of albums at Template:Fleetwood Mac....! Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:18, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- I had checked through all their studio albums but overlooked this one. The name Blues Jam in Chicago should have given it away! As I said, I can vividly recall hearing it played over and over at the parties I attended back in 1974. I knew it was Fleetwood Mac but couldn't figure out which album it came from. Thanks for your speedy response.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 09:37, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Well thanks! And here I thought I had all their studio albums and you show me there's one I missed... I've got Danny Kirwan solo albums and not this one? I'm a bit embarassed. Aaronite (talk) 17:48, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

It's been a long time since I watched this film. I just happened to be reading the plot section of the article, and it says "Bond witnesses a mysterious nurse beating her patient in a room across the way". It doesn't say why the nurse is beating her patient, which is atypical behaviour for nurses. (They are both SPECTRE agents, so might potentially have any number of nefarious reasons to behave oddly.) I don't think this is vandalism - it appears in an edit of 9 December 2008, along with a lot of plausible-sounding plot information. Why the beating? 81.131.32.97 (talk) 16:07, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Consensual sadomasochism as I recall. Clarityfiend (talk) 23:12, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- I see! That possibly relates to the picture of Bond playing a game called "domination", maybe it's a theme. I'll do some editing and clarify the bit about the beating, anyway. 213.122.35.8 (talk) 23:45, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, in the scene in question, Jack Petachi was caught smoking by Fatima Blush, something he was told not to do because it might damage the retinal implant he received. She rips off the bandages covering the still-healing eye, and "reminds" him that he must do as he's told if "he wants his fast cars and his pretty clothes ... and if he wants to keep his (...) little sister alive!" Jack goes after Fatima, exclaiming, "You leave Domino out of this!" ... then the beating starts that Bond overhears.
- In the context of the film, Jack is more of a willing dupe than an agent of SPECTRE; earlier on, SPECTRE Number One (Max Von Sydow) states that Petachi was "introduced to a cruel mistress ... heroin," and thus was under their control. This differs from the plot of Thunderball, where Domino's brother, François, was merely seduced by Fiona Volpe, who used their familiarity to guide the training of the SPECTRE agent who posed as him and hijacked the plane with the bombs aboard. For what it's worth, the plot in the article is a bit long and should be culled, and these details would be some of the first I'd take out. --McDoobAU93 01:28, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Led Zeppelin
[edit]Here's a question for Led Zeppelin's fans: which is the first song here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCYKP1JaUZo ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Atacamadesert12 (talk • contribs) 16:33, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- It is "She Just Satisfies" (see it as a Jimmy Page solo single in Jimmy_Page#Single). -- kainaw™ 17:06, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
