I want to obtain an old music tune

[edit]

Way back in August 1960 there was a group who made an instrumental hit. I believe the tune was called 'MUSTAPHA' or something similar, (I am not certain as it was nearly 50 years ago!) This tune was being played constantly in many of the bars and restaurants in Palma Majorca. I would like to get a copy of that tune via MP3 or CD to bring back memories of that time in Majorca. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.74.170.186 (talk) 10:26, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The only song I find named Mustapha was a Queen track from their album Jazz. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 12:15, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any clues regarding the song? (tempo, style, feel, particular instruments, anything really). I thought of "Tequila" (same amount of syllables, ending in "-a", was still a huge hit in 1960, probably also on Mallorca, since it fits that particular holiday theme), but it's not an instrumental in the purist sense ("Tequila!" is uttered by human voices). ---Sluzzelin talk 14:25, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not an instrumental, unfortunately, but it was big in Europe in 1960: "Ya Mustapha". Deor (talk) 17:31, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
oooooh ... Ya Mustafa looks good! (Whaaoe!)

Service industry night

[edit]

Can someone tell me what this refers to in a pub/bar context. It seems to be a popular name for a theme for an evening and is sometimes abbreviated to SIN. 86.158.161.44 (talk) 15:23, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They're special deals for people who work in bars and restaurants. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 18:03, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They tend to be on Monday or Tuesday. Bars/Restaurants are very busy on the weekend, so many people in that industry have Monday/Tuesday off instead of Saturday/Sunday. The incentive is to give those workers a discount on the night they have off in order to increase the number of people on a normally slow night. -- kainaw 18:08, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've forgotten where I read it but I once saw a statistic that said Tuesday nights are the slowest nights for restaurants. For what it's worth..... Dismas|(talk) 02:36, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trades and baseball's All-Star Game

[edit]

I believe they do, but can't find anything for certain. The question is, do players traded between leagues (like the Toronto pitcher rumored to be dealt soon) stil play for the original league in the All-Star Game? So, would Roy Halladay play for the A.L. even if he is with an N.L. team? Has this ever happened? (I'm thikning I even remember it happening once.) Thanks.Somebody or his brother (talk) 22:11, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It did happen once. In 2004, Carlos Beltrán was chosen for the American League All-Stars while he was with the Royals. But he was traded to the Astros, and he originally wasn't going to be allowed to play. But when Ken Griffey, Jr. was injured, NL manager Jack McKeon added Beltrán as a replacement. — Michael J 22:58, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, much appreciated, thank you.Somebody or his brother (talk) 00:41, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Green Jacket

[edit]

There's a green jacket that looks like a windbreaker. It might be MEC, but I didn't see a logo. It might be rainproof. O, r it looks it might be rainproof.

This jacket has been worn by at least 3 people (and I think the jacket is a men's style, I think 2 in edmonton, alberta and I know one for sure at starbucks 9 July/09 in the southeast of Calgary, Alberta (This guy had short hair, brown, but growing out to blonde, probably blue eyed, good looking. It was also raining)).

What is this jacket?174.3.103.39 (talk) 22:55, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are asking us to identify a green jacket that a guy wore at a particular place on a particular date. Hmm, I think you will receive better results if you were to post at the Edmonton "Missed Connections page on Craigslist. Tempshill (talk) 02:32, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You could also go to MEC's website and peruse the jackets there. They have pics online of their entire catalogue. -- Flyguy649 talk 06:06, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
